I graduated from Harrison High School in 1983. I then enlisted into The United States Marine Corps where I was a Forward Observer for an artillery battery. Upon completion of my "hitch" I enrolled in the University of Arkansas and received a BS in biology with the intent of going to medical school. However, I knew nothing about the medical field. So to see if I would like medicine before I took out a loan to become a physician, I went to EMT school. I liked working on the ambulance so much that I earned an AAS in Emergency Medical Technology-Paramedic. After nine years of working as a Paramedic, I decided to become an RN and was awarded a AAS degree in Registered Nursing. Unfortunately, after 18 years of working in this capacity, I required surgery to fuse three lumbar disk in my back and am now disabled and must walk with the assistance of a cane,
Today I work from my home raising my one year old son, John Jackson "Jack" Elam III. I have been married to my wife, Angel for 7 years. I have wanted to be a Sports Journalist since I started really following the Razorbacks (both football & basketball), The Stl. Cardinals, The Boston Celtics and The Dallas Cowboys over the last 15 years, but felt that seven years of college was enough. So, my fellow sports nut, I hope that I can write something informative, entertaining that is well written and won't put you to sleep. That is my goal. I welcome your advise or constructive criticism!
