German Football Writer. From Beckenbauer to Beckham; Muller to Merkel; Ozil to Octoberfest; Mark has seen them all during two decades in Germany.
His formative years were spent serving Queen and country as a Russian linguist with the Royal Air Force, witnessing some Wall in Berlin topple, German Reunification and the rise in prominence of the Bundesliga.
After leaving the Air Force, Mark started his journalism career in Devon on the same newspaper as Alistair Campbell, who later went on to run the United Kingdom as Tony Blair's Spin Doctor.
Mark is an authority on German football with a special interest in Bayern after 15 years living in Munich. He will aim to touch on major themes and provide the kind of insight you only get by travelling the grounds of Germany. He appears regularly on CNN World Sport TV and talkSPORT radio. He has also written for BBC Sport, as well as newspapers all over England and Germany.
Having married a German, Mark has naturally found it increasingly difficult to depart Deutschland but will move back to England one day - as soon as The Three Lions win the World Cup and/or his beloved Plymouth Argyle reach the giddy heights of the Premier League.
