Sorry, Syracuse Fans, but Wesley Johnson Will Soon Be Going Pro
01/12/2010
I'm a creative writing major at SUNY Oswego, and as journalism is no longer my thing, my writing may at times stray from typical journalistic style and end up closer to a creative essay.
I'm the featured columnist for Syracuse football here on Bleacher Report.
Sports and writing are my two passions (as well as the only two things I may at times be considered knowledgeable in), and I'm particularly passionate about my hometown Syracuse Orange. The majority of my other rooting interests are derived from my years following the Orange as well. I follow the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFL, the Denver Nuggets and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA and despite their having no connection to Syracuse that I'm aware of, I also love the Boston Red Sox.
You can also follow my random, sometimes schizophrenic thoughts on sports and life on Twitter.

Feel free to post any articles on my bulletin board. I'm a general sports nut so I don't mind reading just about anything and I'm more than happy to offer my thoughts. Bonus points are awarded for college football and basketball though.
Hey, you can rate these kids with as many stars as you like, the bottom line is can they play football at the Div.1 level. They...
Cincy's loss to VATech one year ago and FSU losing to ACC #6 team FSU and Cincy get crushed by the Gators, the terrible SOS that...
Dan Kelley replied…
Nonsense. Cincy going down last year was the Big East's first loss in a BCS game...
Nobody even knew who he was a few months ago. Perhaps one of the reasons for his emergence is because the Syracuse program has served him...
SU recruitung in the past decade had ranked near the bottom of D-1. The fact they can move up from below 100 to 55-60 (according to...
Dan Kelley replied…
That's actually not quite true. While under GRob, Syracuse was consistently in the upper forties or...
AS long as he delivers what 'Melo did after only one season, we can accept that. Good luck in the NBA, Wes. You deserve it.
Why would the Big 10 even think about Syracuse? The Big 10 is a big time conference in ALL sports, not just basketball. The should take...
Clyde Dale replied…
Jim: you make a good point. The Orangemen are a big deal in the northeast but...
Tobi Writes replied…
I am with you on the idea of Syracuse to the Big 10, Jim, although I...
They said no to the ACC so they'll likely say no the Big Ten, at least I hope so...
Dan Kelley replied…
From what I heard, it was something along those lines. Who knows though?
Tobi Writes replied…
I had heard it was the Virginia state government and not specifically the governor, but I...
Well thank you, hardlyexpert...
Um..
Where to start on Flynn..
He can get anywhere he wants to go, he has an unparalled quickness and a knack for hitting mid range shots...
However, getting his teammates involved is a struggle...
When he does have the ball in his hands, even in transition, he cannot get the ball into his teammates hands very well..
He does not have the court vision...
He's tough and has great leadership skills. He's an inconsistent 3-point shooter, but can finish his layups incredibly...
He might benefit in another system better, but I guarentee if he's traded, I guarentee you the Triangle will make him an elite PG because of the simplicity of the pick and roll, and his experience in the triangle will make it easier on him...

Yeah I agree bottom line he is 22 and this year is his junior year, so it's not a surprise if he goes to the NBA...
Good article. He will likely graduate this year too so there really isn't a reason hang in for a masters or additional, basket weaving, elective courses....
Syracuse basketball fans know a little something about the heartbreak of being left behind and seeing the dream of something that could have been very special ripped away from them...
Bottom line - Wes is 22 and almost a certain lottery pick. There is zero chance he comes back. Can't blame him. Just hope for a...
Being that you seem to be the resident T'Wolves expert, and because I'm looking forward to another Syracuse beating of Rutgers later today, I figured I might send along this video of Jonny Flynn tea-bagging a Rutgers player last year. It's epic.

BTW, knowing that stats rarely tell the whole story, and I haven't been able to watch many T'Wolves games this season, how's Jonny doing? I'm always going to remember that dude as one of my favorite Orangemen of all time.
