Better Hitter: Derek Jeter or Pete Rose?
11/24/2009
55 years old, married, three children, two grandchildren. Can't remember when I didn't love sports and NY Yankees. Remember as a kid watching Sunday afternoon baseball with my Grandad. Played baseball through college, coached some, now just a fan. Live too far away to get to many games live, but have traveled to New York, Cincinnati and Chicago to see Yankees play. Love to go to minor league games and get MLB on Direct TV to see as many games as possible. Read everything I can on the Web including New York newspapers to follow Yankees. As a kid was a huge NFL fan and sort of lost interest, but have picked it up some in last few years because my wife is a huge Colts fan. Enjoy college basketball. Can't stand NBA. No interest in hockey or NASCAR.

I didn't say Ichiro would have been the greatest hitter ever. But as I see it,...
There's a lot of backups who won rings. Look at Tim Tebow in 2006. He wasn't the starter but yet he has 2 titles in three...
Perry Arnold replied…
J.D. He wasn't even a backup. Why can no one understand this. He appeared in 8...
Despite the fact that he did not appear in the 1996 Postseason, he is still an important part of that team, and indeed part of the...
Perry Arnold replied…
Elijah, just please explain to all of us how he was an important part of the...
Yankee fan, love Jeter, would love to see the record broken. I want to take this opportunity to say that is a complete travesty that Pete...

Exactly
Perry Arnold replied…

steven before u go yankee bashing you should do some more research...ever heard of the big red machine? the phils of the early 80's schmidt and...
Evan Bruschini replied…
Damon shouldn't be mistaken for a power hitter. But I agree. Rose played on faster team....
Gary Maloy replied…
Rose was not a natural third baseman and cannot be considered one of the greatest 3rd...
Pete Rose and it's not even close!
Evan Bruschini replied…
I agree, but you must consider that Pete Rose did play for the Big Red Machine....
Gary Maloy replied…
Yes, Evan, Rose did play for the BRM where Joe Morgan hit in the two-hole. They...
Just because he has only won 5 rings, he is still part of the core four.
One last thing Jeter isn't even the greatest hitter of his generation so why on Earth are you comparing him to one of the all-times greats?...
Don't forget sacrifice bunts.Who hits in more DP;s pcts.
Right now, Pete Rose is still the best hitter of this generation by far. However, Jeter plenty of a career left to play, so it's unclear...
Bill Mckillop replied…
Doug - You are correct Pete is still the tops by a large way. Bill thefairball.com...
