Did S. Watson in 2008 at anytime completely change the NU offense? And when I mean change an offense I mean the following.. Bring a new playbook? With new terminology? With new schemes? Requiring players to throw away knowledge from 3 years in the previous offense? NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!
NO, not even after the Missouri game you idiot. He simply adjusted the offense to a scheme and to plays that better fit the mold of his players. PLAYS ALREADY IN THE DAMN PLAYBOOK YOU STUPID ASS! No learning new plays or schemes, no having to re-teach an entire offense!
As would have been the case if NU had hired a new HC in 2008 that was an offensive minded HC, whether that was T. Gill or NOT!
STFU!!
NOT ANOTHER WORD FROM YOUR DUMBARSE
STOP! You Stupid ARSE! You can't win with me so just STOP!

Gerald,
Just want to clear up some confusion. Maybe if you considered the facts of the situation that Nebraska was in last year, the hiring of Pelini would make more sense. First off, I am a Nebraska fan born and bred and love Turner Gill to death. Turner is a class individual all the way and exudes so much dignity, humility, and confidence. An amazing guy, and I am fortunate to have met him more than once.
In 2007 Nebraska was coming off of having the worst defensive team in SCHOOL HISTORY!! I say that gain. The Blackshirts were the worst in SCHOOL HISTORY and they were embarresed!! What it comes down to is Nebraska needed a HC with a defensive background.
What makes you think Nebraska or any other school in same circumstance wouldn't hire a HC with a defensive mentality??? Especially, one that had a proud and distinguished tradition as the Nebraska Blackshirts?
Don't even start insinuating that Nebraska, Gill's Alma Mater, didn't hire him because he is black! Come on dude. Nebraska was one of the first schools to give black athletes a chance, and one of the first to have a black QB, one by the name of Turner Gill.
The Nebraska athletic department and the football program in general is bigger than any one person. Bigger and more important than Tom Osborne and Turner Gill. Tom Osborne did what was RIGHT for the PROGRAM at the time.
Something to keep in mind. The Nebraska offense and it's production in 2007 was fine under the leadership of Shawn Watson, especially with the emergence of Joe Ganz. By bringing in a HC that wouldn't be changing the offfense this allowed continuity on that side of the ball.
If, Nebraska hires a guy that is going to bring his own offense, LIKE TURNER, and I'm sure he knew and understood this, than the entire Nebraska team is once again learning a new system. And 2008, is likely a lost season, and likely another losing season. This program could not endure another losing season, after 2 in last 4 years under Callahan.
Pelini wasn't hired because of his one year of work at Nebraska in 2003. He was hired for the totality of his work at NU in 03 and as D coord at OU and LSU.
One more thing to keep in mind.. Remember Frank Solich? Do you remember how he got the Head Coach gig at Nebraska? He was appointed by Osborne, then fired very publicly in 2003.
Tom Osborne and Gill are very very close.
Consider this... Got to always look at both sides of the coin and the equation. What if Tom does hire Turrer and it goes bad for some reason? What if Tom or some other AD at Nebraska has to fire Turner at some point?
Turner is one of the most well liked, respected, and honored ex Nebraska players and he is a favorite son.
Can you imagine the fall out over something like that? OH MY GOD! I am sure Tom Osborne thought long and hard about this very thing.
Honestly, I don't think the door for Turner to be HC at Nebraska is closed. Maybe Pelini doesn't succed and gets canned, or more likely, he has some real success, maybe wins a NC and then bolts for a job in the NFL or something.

Gerald:
Nice work in your responses to my Auburn/Chizik article. Even when I disagree, I always appreciate a quality response that is so well conceived. I actually personally pull for Auburn over Bama all the time but they puzzle me as to why they self destruct in the personnel department so often.

Oh
incidentally as much as you BC$ proponents want me to believe your stupid bowl system under its current format brings compelling matchups to the table, I would have you know that none of them mean anything. That was real classy how you manipulated my quote for your pernicious purposes. Do you write anti-Mormon literature in your spare time? You should use all that time on your hands to come up with better takes. Yes, everyone thinks the NFL is unwatchable. I guess that's why it's king. Have fun with your meaningless "championship game." For me, it's all about I-AA playoffs, (Montana and James Madison was epic) and the NFL. As for your refutes to my statement, please don't post on my page because I have no intention of reading any crap you might concoct as a comeback.

To each their own but the NFL is must-see television. Does the playoff thing bother you? That's probably what it is.
