Hi Gerald,
Thanks for the reply.
I fully agree with the 2003 and 2004 scenarios. I've been saying that forever on here as for a reason why conference cheerleading emerged. And I fully agree with the NCAA's lack of action with regards to the Alabama program. Just about any USC fan you will find lately will say, "Yeah, the NCAA hit us, but what about this or that program?" Supporting a particular team this bowl season can still have roots in college rivalries rather than picking a team because of conference as Alabama has done this year.
Looking at the history of the polls, you will find it was most often akin to a race/marathon and not what it is now. It is now become we beat such and such team while you played weaker competition which leans to the subjective side. The polls very rarely permitted a team to jump another team even if both teams won. If you won your game you didn't drop and another team did not jump you no matter who you played and regardless of conference. I think if most fans today realized this as a long college football tradition, then this conference cheerleading might not be so relevant. LSU fans can bitch to USC all they want, but it was the BCS that screwed them, not USC. The 2003 game should have been USC-LSU.
Sorry for the late reply, but it is the holiday season and things get busy. Hope you had a good one.

Hi Gerald,
Thought you might want to check out a Bama fan's unique support of the Oregon Ducks against Auburn.

Despite claims of there being Pac-10 fans, Big 10 fans or other types of conference cheerleading, it seems that rivalry still has a place in college football. As much as SEC fans want to argue about conference, it has always been about your own team, unless you are an LSU or Florida fan who need that extra argument footing to stand on. Alabama certainly doesn't need it with their history which explains why they are supporting the Ducks.

You're articels on nd are poor claiming Ty willinghman had signed 4 and 5 star recruits is redicilous. During his time at ND he only signed ONE 5 star recruit and too say he recruited successfully for a program like ND is absurd. Also you claim ND shouldn't hire a high profile coach??? That is also absurd. So please if you're going to continue to write about ND get your facts straight.
