Man O' War and Secretariat: A Match (Race) Made in Heaven
11/10/2009
Living in the mythical State of Jefferson (formerly southern Oregon), one of the nicest places on Earth.
Lady Red and I work a small farm in the foothills of the Siskiyou Mountains.
Besides sports, things that interest me:
~ The worship music of Misty Edwards
~ The plight of the Degar, Vietnam's indigenous mountain people
~ Vintage acoustic guitars
~ Collectible and classic guns
~ Watch this inspiring lesson in persistence.
Since all else has failed, I see no reason for the Knicks not to sign Allen Iverson.

That's uber cool!
With my meager wages it's like dreaming about collectibles.
Plus, added troubles here and there, haven't helped me financially.
It's like trying to go independent and then it's falling back to semi or void independence.
Well, those are my troubles.
But have you got the Winchester rifle of the 19th century?
The problem is, Louis L'Amour was my first favorite writer.
And I wanted to emulate his lone men, who depended on their well-maintained guns, and their mates in the wilderness (their companions aka rides).
Reading about the Winchester and it's dependency as the best during those times, always fascinated me to actually see one work.
It's great to see stuff still hanging around having been through all those years.
That what really amazes me.

It's inspiring to read your bio.
Some things that do interest me are already listed.
Collectors items are hard to get, but it's worth a try to get 'em.
Dropping by, to say "What's Up?! , Mate!"

Haha, don't worry. Didn't publicise it the way I usually do, so no reason for you to have known. Just glad you enjoyed it once you found it! :-)
1) Fantastic cause, yes, but I can't say I'm hopeful. Seen a large number of efforts like this before, none of them work. The UN has a policy where ALL members 'have' to give 0.7% of its annual excess money in multilateral (fyi, the only effective type for countries to give...), but few countries even come CLOSE. The USA is by far the worst - if I remember rightly, they barely even give 0.1%. Will check on the figures. But even that small amount is larger than any other country gives, so they ca't afford to kick the USA out. There's a lot of good things about the UN, but that is just one of many ways in which is it flawed. I'm pretty sure the FAO is one of the UN's special agencies, and frankly I'm not hopeful. Every year, stuff like this comes along—be it Children in Need, Save The Children, Comic Relief, whatever—and yet things only ever get worse.
Sorry, rant over ;-)
Loved the music (agreed on the title), and the stick men should so have won! :P
What's your favourite golf club? I like my 7-iron...it's comfortable :-)

Good evening! I'd like to refer you to Juan's latest article, which I think has some great tips for all writers!

I'd really appreciate it if you could show him the support!

You know—there are few things in this world more disconcerting than driving off the tee, and not having a clue where your ball went. I'm not talking just not quite seeing where it landed—I mean, not even knowing the general direction, or the vague flight path, or...well, anything at all about its position! My partner had to direct me to the general area she thought it flew toward...but we never really had a hope of finding it b/c, if she was right, it was roundabout the area of a thick patch of trees ;-)

Well - I basically have four months to decide between the two career paths I'm considering - physics and medicine. It's either that or put the choice off for another year—but to do that I'd have to go a year doing nothing but academic stuff. I'd have to give up music (as one of my subjects, anyway) for that time, and I really don't want to do that. But it's an impossible choice b/c sometimes I wake up loving one path and really not feeling the other, then other days it's vice-versa.
But thank you—your words are always encouraging :-)

Haha, nope. Feel exactly the same as I did 2 weeks ago ;-) Actually, that's technically not true, but the change is more to do with a renewed friendship than a change in age :-)
Your description of yourself at my age reminds me very much of my brother—seemed for a while as though he'd never stop growing ;-)
Haha...thanks. I go through different phases w/ regards to B/R—sometimes (like when I wrote that comment) I get really worked up, frustrated, and passionate, then other times I just don't care, other than wanting the discussion re-focused on sports. Right now, I'm at the latter ;-)
For all I complain, I actually enjoy most of what we do at school. By the way, my future will only be "beautiful" if I can decide what to do with it. Thoughts? :-)

Hey Rojo, how are you?? I probably shouldn't be here right now, but my week "off" from school was always gonna end up like this :P
Away now to do some maths...what fun :-)

DeleteYes, I did some research on Mr. Grey.
Altho' with end semester exams from Monday, I did find some of his works.
The problem is, I don't want to distract myself during Exam time [ :D ].
That's the part of the year when I actually study something worthwhile.
I always have thought of building a house near a creek, or a small pond.
It's like a spot for cooling off during summers and you won't even have to pay for that.
