Tom's Bio

I am an independent investment professional who likes sabermetrics (baseball science) because of its similarity to analyzing stocks: download numbers onto an Excel spreadsheet and try to "mine" the data.

In the investment field, I am the author of "A Modern Approach to Graham and Dodd Investing," (Wiley, 2004) and predicted the 2008 stock market crash.

In a post on thestreet.com, I once dubbed the Oakland As' general manager Billy Beane "the Warren Buffett of baseball."
