About

I am an investment professional who likes sabermetrics (baseball science) because of its similarity to analyzing stocks: download numbers onto an Excel spreadsheet and try to "mine" the data.

In the investment field, I am the author of "A Modern Approach to Graham and Dodd Investing," (Wiley, 2004) and predicted the 2008 stock market crash.

In August, 2008, as a commenter on another site, I predicted "a breakout Bautista" (last full paragraph).

Hello Mr Au. I am from a Mets blog called Mets Gazette. I wanted to ask you if you have any interest in helping us with a preview of the Mets/Pirates series. If so, please answer a few questions for us and we will promote your work here on our site in exchange for you writing up something on the interview with a link to the site for your readers to see your replies.

    The questions:
    1) What are your team's strengths?
    2)What are your team's weaknesses?
3)What is your view of the Mets?
4)What are your predictions for the series?

Please send the answers to our email (metsgazette@gmail.com), since our message system is not working yet here. Thank you for your consideration.

    Hi Tom,

And here I thought the interest in Cleveland sports was based on some sort of steel town camaraderie, haha...

Anyway, consider my curiosity piqued; Cleveland to Wall Street...do tell.

Glad you sent that link, what an interesting article! Sadly, in the baseball world, I think Wedge is more Flying Monkey than Wicked Witch.

Also, many thanks for the POTD vote...
