Tori's Bio

After a year of finding my passion and voice on Bleacher Report, I created the opportunity to write an article on ESPN.com. yes, that's not a typo. I owe it all to B/R and the experience I've had on this incredible website. My dreams don't stop there; so stay tuned.. but in the meanwhile, here's the URL for the article to prove a chica like me can make it big in the sports world: http://sports.espn.go.com/espnmag/story?id=3966609

I am now starting my master's degree in Sport Management in southern California & am part of a great Collegiate Athletics staff in the Marketing Dept at my school (go Dirtbag's!). Future plans include working for a professional team (SJ Sharks?), collegiate department (Longhorns?), sports venue (Fenway?) or up in the office with the big kids(Bristol?).

I have an extensive sports 'bucket list' which includes: attending the olympics, world cup, duke/unc game (at cameron of course), final four, frozen four, world series championship, among other cool events. Far fetched? Not really- I've already been to the Super Bowl (XLII-2008) courtesy of being hired by the NFL and competed in the (Junior) Olympics. Not bad for a college student.

If you had to read just one of my pieces, I'd recommend this one about taking a girl out on a date. It's my absolute favorite article I've written so far :)

& If you're feeling particularly voracious, my personal account of last years Super Bowl- yes, the one with the Pats and Giants.. Still have to read it from time to time to convince myself that I was actually there.

  1. Tori,

I felt you might get a kick out of this little piece. It has an important message for everyone. Let me know what you think of it in the comments section.

    Thanks,

    Daniel Barber aka Hotnuke

  2. Thanks for the pick Tori! Kind of story the writes itself. hehe.

  3. Tori:

NFL runningback Ryan Moats was pulled over last week on the way to the hospital to say goodbye to his dieing mother-in-law. He was detained and harassed by the officer for almost 15 minutes, and in that time his mother-in-law passed away. He was not able to get to her in time to say goodbye.

I was heartbroken when I heard this story, but enraged when I actually saw a 17 minute video of the entire incident. I have never seen such an abuse of power in my life.

Because of the nature of this subject, this article was pretty important to me. I would love if you could check it out when you get a chance. If not, no problem. Thanks!

  11. Great Article...How did you pull of writing for the Mag, did they seek you out or did you find somebody willing to give a blogger (a UofA for that) a chance?

  12. That's freakin awesome, thanks for sharing! I went ahead and showed a little support and checked it out (you'll even notice I commented :) —robo98564)

But keep up the good work, and don't forget us little people as you continue your success! You've got the pretty face, which is sadly enough to help a lot of people "make it big," but its nice to see that unlike so many, you have the TALENT too! Refreshing.

Haha thanks again for the heads up!

  13. Sweet Mo has struck again.....

  14. My. Teams. Blow. Auburn and Tennessee football have made some strange hires (along with losing seasons prior to those questionable hires). Not so hot, haha. As for me, im just doing the whole school thing still...going to class, going to practice, eating, sleeping, and doing it all over again the next day...you know how it is. Stalk me on facebook and you can get any answer haha...i purposely made my B/R thing as ambiguous as it can get.

Congrats on LBSU...they are a baseball powerhouse arent they? That's all I know about the school haha...sad i know. Surely the others will come soon. Good call applying to UT btw...haha...im biased though.

Any luck with that zona zoo song being played at games?
