I grew up in Hollywood in the '40's and '50's, six miles north of the USC campus and the Coliseum. That and the fact that my dad was a Trojan fan made it inevitable that I would be a lifelong devotee of the Cardinal and Gold. I played football and ran track at John Marshall High School, and enlisted in the Air Force five days after graduation. After an Honorable Discharge in 1960 I worked for several different companies until I started my own business in 1970. I bought a second company in 1991 and ran that until retiring in 2001. Besides playing golf and following SC football, I enjoy writing letters to the editor at the L.A. Times and OC Register.

I just published “USC Football Recruiting: Lane Kiffin 2012 Scholarship Math and Greatest Needs” at

It includes a realistic estimate of the number of 2012 new scholarships, identifies the positions of greatest need and the best candidates to fill those positions.

I haven’t heard from you in a while and would love to get your comments. Hope you are doing well.

    Thanks, Bill
