chad's Bio

I was born in Baltimore and have lived here my entire life except the four years I was in college in North Carolina. Not at UNC mind you. A little college named Catawba.

I'm very passionate about sports and the teams I love.
Here are my favorite teams, by league.

NCCA hoops. Duke Blue Devils. I know I live in Maryland and I'm supposed to root for the Terps but I can't do it. I've been a Duke fan since I went to my first game at Cameron Indoor in 1983. Johnny Dawkins was a sophmore at the time. The atmosphere was incredible. Best fans in the game.

NHL- The Washington Caps. How can you not love this team. The greatest player in the world, surrounded by a great mix of young guys and wily vets.

The Boston Bruins are a close second.

NFL- The Baltimore Ravens. Have been die hard since they moved here. The first season I split my allegiances with the Bears, as they were my team in between the Colts and Ravens, after that it's been all Ravens.

NBA- The Wizards. If only Gil could stay healthy they could do some damage in the Eastern Conference. I like the Rookies and younger guys on this team. Our big three is as good as any ones when they are all on the court together. It's a shame it's been nearly two years since that's happened for any significant amount of time.

MLB- The Baltimore Orioles, this is the hardest team to root for, I will never give up on them but they are so disappointing. I do think they are heading in the right direction though. If Andy McPhail can bring in a quality pitcher and a few more good prosects, they may be able to right the ship. Not to say we will be able to compete with the Sox, Yanks and Rays but at least we could have a winning season. Right now all I'm asking for is 82-80, not a World Series. One step at a time people. Although the Rays have proven you can go from worst to World Series in one season.

Duke Blue Devils, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, Washington Wizards, Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth, because if it weren't for him baseball wouldn't have even survived to Willie Mays

  • Unitas or Montana?

This is tough. Going by who I've seen play it would be Montana. But truely Johnny Unitas is probably the best QB ever. He changed the game

  • Jordan or Russell?

    Jordan best player ever

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Gretzky. Did Orr have his number retired by the entire league or have the waiting period for the HOF waived for him? No

  • Pele or Maradona?

Not a huge soccer fan but I did like Pele when I was a kid so I'll go with him

  • Federer or Sampras?

Again this is tough. I'm going to go with Federer though. Ask me tomorrow and it might be Sampras

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Tiger. He opened the game up to the general masses. Just look at the TV ratings when he's in a tournament compared to when he's not.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    Earnhardt

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    Schumacher

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

    ACC

  5. Give this a read. So far, the O's outfield trio of Nolan Reimold, Adam Jones, and Nick Markakis are getting credit. And they deserve it. Reimold is a ROTY candidate, Jones is an All Star and Markakis is himself. But what other Oriole deserves credit?

  6. Give this a look. The O's pitching trio of Brian Matusz, Chris Tillman, and Jake Arrieta were the most important piece of the minor leagues going into the year. So how have they done this year? Check it out.

  11. Hey Chad,

I have recently been chosen as a contestant in AM 1570 WNST’s King of Baltimore Sportstalk Competition to see if I can fulfill a dream of blogging and doing radio for a living. Since you were kind enough to become a fan of my work here on Bleacher Report, I wanted to personally invite you to take a look at my new blog at WNST.net. The link can be found here:

    http://wnst.net/wordpress/lukejones/

Please read and comment (as always, agree or disagree as much as you want!) on my work. The competition will also include a voting element that will begin in the near future. My goal is to bring you the same analysis and focus on sports (with a Baltimore-based focus) that I have tried to do since joining Bleacher Report in August 2008.

Also, I encourage you to pass on the link to anyone else you know who may enjoy my work. Thank you so much for your support!

  14. Now that Ray Lewis is re-signed and Bart Scott is gone, Baltimore has a whole to fill at LB. Who do I think Ozzie Newsome should draft? Rey Maualuga. I think he will fall to us. Please comment/read.
