My name is Jordy McElroy...I enjoy long walks on the beach, Eskimo kisses, and every boy band from the 90's. Seriously though, I'm a production grad from Middle Tennessee State University. MMA is a true passion of mine, and I enjoy writing about it, as well as competing.
Excellent article...Joe Rogan: Everyone Should Fear Cyborg at 145, Including Ronda Rousey. Fans deserve to see these two great athletes compete against each other while at their best, 145 lbs, the natural weight division for both.
Garrett Holeve Proves Victorious in Historic MMA Fight
Sullivan, MO- MMA Fighter Garrett “G-Money” Holeve defeated David “Cerebral Assassin” Steffan by submission in the second round of their bout at Cage Championships 50 in Sullivan, Missouri on November 8th. It was the first career win for Holeve, who has had an incredible journey to make it into the ring. The fight marked the first time in MMA history that two adaptive athletes competed against one another.
“I have proven that I am a MMA fighter and my hard work paid off in the cage,” said Holeve. ”I feel like the lightweight champ! I want to fight in Florida even more than ever and I want the people who have discriminated against me to stop it and let me fight.”
Holeve was greeted after his win in the ring by his training partners and his father Mitch. The elder Holeve wanted to thank the people who made the fight possible including Fighting for Autism, Disability Rights Florida, Change.org, the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS), Spire Sanctioning and Cage Championships.
In a great show of sportsmanship following the fight, the two fighters embraced and shared in the glory of being able to compete. Stefffan took the microphone from the ring announcer and said, “All we wanted to do was fight and we proved to you tonight that we can.”
While Holeve’s next fight has yet to be announced he will next compete in the Wodapalooza CrossFit Games in Miami January 15-16. For more information go to www.garrettsfight.org.
Your article about Noad Lahat going home to fight in the Israeli Army has many an innaccuracy. Mainly because Israel is just bombing unarmed civilians. That is all!
The least you could do is open the comments section on the article so people can debate.
i compliment your article title and you change it. How dare you sir!
Geez a feature columnist. Really ? I just read your Rampage article and know where São Paulo is but you have Sau Paulo. Please correct this its embarrassing.
Your article about Steaming UFC events becoming a felony has some inaccuracies in it. First, you said the "Obama Administration" is trying to make it illegal to stream ppv events online. In the next paragraph, you said U.S. Rep. Lamar S. Smith proposed a bill through Congress.
Two important points:
1. The Obama Administration is not Congress. For now, it is the Executive branch of government, which is totally independent of the Legislative, or Congress.
2. The Congressman you mentioned is a Republican from Texas, far removed from being a part of the "Obama Administration."
Love your articles. What about an article on which UFC champ or well know UFC Fighters that would survive the zombie Apocalypse the longest?
Please write an article on GSP's 5 toughest opponents to-date. My list: BJ Penn, Matt Hughes, Carlos Condit, Matt Serra, Josh Koscheck. Hendricks will crack that top 5 (if it happens) and obviously Silva would have to be #1 (again if it happens). Just an idea. Thanks for all the great articles.
