About

Gamecock Alum.

The quality of my weekends in the fall and winter are directly proportional to the performance of the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Washington Redskins. Period.

I was once a really good athlete. Now I just play golf... and I'm kind of obsessed.

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

MJ, Barry Sanders, Tiger, Sean Taylor (RIP), Art Monk, Strasburg/Harper combo, Usain Bolt.

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Gamecocks, Redskins, Capitals, Nationals, Buckeyes, Indians, I'll root for Georgetown Basketball if they're good, whatever euro soccer team makes Sportscenter top plays

  • Favorite Coaches

    Joe Gibbs, Head Ball Coach

  • All-Time Sports Moment

Running back the opening kickoff of my senior football season for a TD, Going undefeated and winning the '95 County championship in youth football, Scoring all 3 TDs (including a pick-6) in a 21-7 victory in the '93 youth football County playoffs (are you seeing a trend here?...), Watching MJ hit the game winning shot vs the Jazz in his last game as a Bull; Redskins win 1992 Super Bowl; Buckeyes win the 2002 BCS Championship; Staying up late to watch the ridiculousness that was Boise State vs. Oklahoma in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, Watching USA score in extra time to beat Algeria in the 2010 World Cup, Gamecocks demolish Florida in the Swamp and #1 Bama in 2010.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

5-way tie - Gamecocks beat Florida at home in Spurriers first season as SC's head coach; Watching MJ take on the Bullets in a reg season game during his 3rd championship season; Gamecocks upsets #2 Kentucky in basketball in 2005 (court rush); Georgetown upsets #1 Duke in Basketball in 2005 (court rush); Redskins beat Lions at FedEx in '99 playoffs

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

hmmm.... probably DiMaggio's consecutive hit streak, Cal Ripken's consecutive game streak, FSU football finishing in the top-4 of the polls 14 straight seasons, Ty Cobb's lifetime batting average. Oh and I highly doubt that an NFL player will ever lead the league in passing, punting and interceptions like Sammy Baugh did.

  • Ruth or Mays?

Ruth. Any guy who can live the lifestyle he did and still totally dominate his sport, both during his lifetime and historically, is my hero.

  • Unitas or Montana?

    Montana I guess.

  • Jordan or Russell?

    Jordan. Landslide.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

    Ovechkin!

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele in soccer, Maradona in life.

  • Federer or Sampras?

    Fed

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

    Tiger

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

    who?

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    who cares?

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

Let's be honest, the SEC is the only REAL conference until proven otherwise.

Bob- I went to USC and played in the league as well. Thought the BAMA game in 01 would have been you fav..HA. Name is Rod Trafford and I played for the Gamecocks...now working for Xenith as the founder and CEO of Xenith and I went to High School together in NJ... Small world...let me know if you are interested in learning more about the coolest looking helmet and most intelligent design in over 30 years, the Xenith X1. Plus, none of these helmets are actually "new" that you show... they are more of the same. Shells have changed but the insides are nothing new...More and more colleges and NFL players, such as Dallas Clark, Josh Cribbs, Ricky Williams, Jeff Saturday, and Matt Birk to name a few have swiched into the Xenith and are noticing the differences right way in terms of fit and during impacts......Check out this link as well to check out high profile athethes in Xenith..http://gallery.me.com/xenithx1#100161

    Talk soon...GO COCKs!
