That's me, all alone in the Rose Bowl. It's similar to how I felt as a USC sophomore when 5-6 UCLA beat the Trojans in the final week of the 2006 season, preventing USC from playing for its fourth title in four years. Eventually I made my way closer to the action, becoming the Daily Trojan Sports Editor and maintaining a column for five semesters.
I've covered the Rose Bowl (USC's shellacking of Illinois), the NCAA Tournament (courtside during O.J. Mayo's fateful freshman season), and profiled several of the talented athletes to make their way through Troy.
My favorite writing moment came when an enraged reader wrote to the Daily Trojan Editor, requesting that I "sack up and stop sniffing Pete Carroll's jock strap."
