Glenn's Bio
Candlestick is rockin' like the DeBartolo era, so if you can see the 49ers at the Stick, do so.
The Jed York era has been special so far.
I'm an enthusiastic 49er Faithful who dates back to before the days of John Brodie and the horrific years of the mid- to late 1970s.
Now that I have returned to the Bay Area, where I was born, after an absence of 42 years, I am a 49ers season-ticket holder!
One thing I've noticed on Bleacher Report is that most 49ers fans I communicate with are not old enough to even remember Cedric Hardman, Gene Washington, Jimmy Johnson or Forrest Blue. Some never even saw Freddie Solomon, chain-smokin' Fred Dean, or Bill Ring play.
I saw them all play, some in person, including Brodie, Washington, Blue, Johnson and Hardman.
As a result, a lot of my knowledge base comes not from stats, books, You Tube videos and other media; rather, a lot of comes from personal experience, personal memories.
How many even remember the human projectile identified as Ronnie Lott knocking the snot out of Eric Dickerson, particularly in Los Angeles, humiliating this so-called great in front of the Rams and their fans on their home turf?
How many remember that the cheers for the 49ers when they visited the Rams were louder than the cheers for the home team?
Eventually, the Rams had enough and left. Sure, they say the ownership transition is what did it, but in reality it was because the 49ers dominated that division and the Rams had a devastatingly sinking fan base as a direct result of San Francisco's unprecedented domination.
In terms of other sports, I also love the San Francisco Giants. I saw Willie McCovey, Willie Mays and Juan Marichal play.
I've nearly given up on the Golden State Warriors, even though I was a very young boy who saw Nate Thurmond play for the then-San Francisco Warriors.
I saw Al Attles coach and former Warrior greats Jamaal Wilkes, Phil Smith and Rick Berry play.
How many Warrior fans remember they were really a San Francisco team or that they had to play for the NBA Championship in their old Cow Palace because the brainless wonders at the Coliseum had rented that venue out? Thus, their only championship in Oakland was realized in Daly City.
The teams I dislike the most are the Cowboys, Rams, Raiders, N.Y. Giants, Bears and Packers; Dodgers and Braves; and the Suns, Lakers and Celtics.
I am married to my beautiful wife Kathleen.
My professional experience is varied.
Since graduating from college with honors as a journalism major in 1985, I've edited several weeklies and co-founded and managed a now-defunct 24,800-circulation daily.
For several years, I was a publisher/managing editor until our publication became too large, and I went back to what I love most: editing.
I've also been a news director, and for a while, I had a dual career where I was a morning radio news anchor while in the day I was general manager of a garbage and recycling company.
Go, Niners!

This article was originally published in support of Relay for Life. If you have read this before, then I apologize, but please considering donating at least $1 to Make a Wish in the memory of Josiah Herring. In light of several recent events I felt compelled to revisit cancer awareness and have not had the time for a new article. I Promise to have a new article out soon in support of the cause.
Thank you everyone!
