I'm just an average sports fan except when it comes to Golf and NASCAR. Grew up on the east coast and golf was part of my mom's family. Grandmother taught me to play and appreciate the game and how it was to be played. On my Dad's side, my Dad was a driver. A racer. And a darn good won. Raced in the Northeast when NASCAR was just in it's infancy. Never made the big show, but he had the skill and the record to boot. I was hooked on Saturday night modifieds in upstate New York. But one trip to the Daytona 500 in 1977 changed opened my eyes. Fell in love with Winston Cup racing. I was an Alabama gang follower as a kid. Grew to like the "man in black" and now, I pull hard for Jr.
Sundays are hard for me. Not uncommon to watch 4 hours of golf while wearing out the PIP button on the remote to catch the boys Chasin the Cup.
