Simon's Bio

I am 27 years old from Peterborough in England. I love football and support my home town club Peterborough United first. The 'Posh' are managed by Darren Ferguson, son of Sir Alex, and are currently in League 1, hoping to be in the Championship before long. I am a season-ticket holder.

Liverpool are my EPL team, and I support them with just as much passion from afar as I do Peterborough up close.

The Short List What Simon thinks about sport's most pressing questions

  • Favorite Athletes

Fernando Torres, Aaron Mclean (Posh), John Barnes, Dennis Bergkamp

  • Favorite Sports Teams

    Peterborough United, Liverpool

  • All Time Sports Moment

Dennis Bergkamp's goal in the Wolrd Cup quarter-final with Argentina in France 1998. The best goal ever scored in my opinion.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Peterborough United vs Stockport County, 1992 Division 3 play off final at Wembley. Posh took 28,000 fans (our average attendance is about 5500) and won 2-1 with King Kenny Charlery netting both goals, the winner in the 88th minute, to reach the second tier of English football for the first (and only!) time ever.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Peterborough United, record goalscorers in a single English league season with 134 league goals in Division 4, 1960-1961 (Terry Bly netting 52 of those league goals!). Has stood for 47 years and counting....

  • Ruth or Mays?

    American sport sucks

  • Unitas or Montana?

    American sport sucks

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele, a great man both on and off the field, and his records are phenomenal.

  • Pac 10, Big 12, Big 10, SEC, ACC, or Big East?

No idea what any of that means.

  4. Hey mate,

I know there are enough of these articles floating around Bleacher at the moment, but I was asked to write a preview on the Inter and United game so I gave it a go anyway.

  5. Thanks for your help.

  6. Hey Simon. I'm researching Bergkamp. I see you've listed him as one of your favourite players.

Is there a particular match that you remember as Bergkamp's best?

  7. There's been a lot of confusion surrounding the Bosingwa incident. I thought that all the arguments needed to be collected together and cleared up.

Hope you can get the time to read and comment.

  8. Hey Simom,
You just responded to a comment of mine so I took a look at your profile and I have finally found someone who agrees with me.
I also think that Bergkamp's goal against Argentina is the best ever. Everything about the goal amazes me every time I see it. The first touch from Bergkamp is incredible.

  9. Alright mate. I just wrote a short article on Lampard's reaction to his red card against Liverpool on Sunday.

    What's your take on it?

  10. Hello mate..

The latest Chelsea round table is out. This time we have contributions from a United fan as well which should spice things up.. It was a slight change which I thought would be effective in getting a variety of opinions.

  14. Hey Simon.

The season's half way mark has been passed, and spurred on by a comment by Nathan Lowe I've written an article reviewing Berbatov's progress so far this season, and debate about whether he's got what it takes to replace Carlos Tevez:

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/108119-20082009-the-season-so-far-dimitar-berbatov-and-carlos-tevez/

I put a lot of work into it, and would really appreciate it if you gave it a read.

    Regards,
    Steven
