Gray Ghost's Bio

Born in the pristine southern city of Savannah, Georgia, I lived a Huck Finn childhood of fishing, shrimping, crabbing, and swimming in the intercoastal waterways of coastal Georgia. I grew up playing football, baseball, basketball, and boxing. I now live in the beautiful state of Idaho, and enjoy the drop-dead gorgeous outdoors here in the Gem State. What a place to live!!

Though I now live in Idaho, I remain loyal to the Georgia Bulldogs. I bleed Bulldog red and black! How 'bout them DAWGS!

I have written weekly articles for several newspapers over the past 15 years.

While I enjoy almost all sports - I LOVE College Football!!!

I normally leave the game day analysis to others here on B/R, as there are so many that are so good at that. I greatly enjoy reading their articles, and leaving comments. I try to respect other people and their opinions, even if I disagree.

My niche on B/R is the human interest editorial, an occasional foray into humor, and a glimpse of appreciation at sports history. I hope you enjoy reading my articles as much as I do writing them.

  1. hey im back and writhing an article in 2 days

  2. It's been 10 years and, other than maintenance, tires and a battery, I haven't spent a dime on it.

    Toyota=Good.

  3. I have published my first college football piece on B/R. If not a surprise, it is about Notre Dame. Being a Big East fan, I have raised the question that has been talked about for quite some time: Should Notre Dame football become a part of the Big East conference? Appreciate any feedback given!

  4. Greetings baseball fans -

Having finally overcome the gremlins that delayed this slideshow, I am happy to present at last the photographic companion to my article about covering the Dodgers as a member of the working media.

  5. GG, I am back!

  6. Hi Dean! How are you doing, my man?

I know how much you love history. I'm going to do a weekly historical piece for the Dodgers home page, and the first one is spotlighting Uncle Robbie, Wilbert Robinson:

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/214554-spotlight-on-dodgers-history-uncle-robbie

I would love it if you could stop by and give it a read if you have the time! If not, no worries. Take care, and hope to chat with you soon!

  7. I'm in a X-Cab Tacoma TRD rock crawler with a refrigerated 'tool box' behind the cab.

I do some catering in hard to reach places around here...hunting parties, beach parties, construction sites, boat launches, etc., I'm the only guy that does that around here.

  8. You know we have an "Outdoor Sports" page under 'More' on the toolbar that covers hunting and fishing. There are some great new fly fishing works there now.

Once in a while I write for a DelMarVa hunting paper during goose season here although I haven't been deer hunting in over a decade...since they tend to just jump into the grill of my truck pretty darn regularly here now...so going out in 5 degree, 5 o'clock a.m. weather seems kind of a waste of arrows and brandy if you ask me.

We should parlay that into something sometime.

  9. Turns out there are more than just trolls in b/r land...enter the "ifs".

  10. Hey GG,

Hope you get a chance to read this. I think it's a nice attribution article to an upstart organization:

  11. Ghost,

I read your ethics article. I should have read it before I wrote this but let me know what you think anyway.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/211677-question-from-a-newbiehow-do-you-make-bleacher-report-work-for-you

I really appreciated your article by the way and I hate the gators too! Don't hate us when we come between the hedges this year and return last year's favor! :)

    Thanks - SM

  12. Hey GG, did you get that last PM I sent you?

I decided to do a list with a twist!

  13. Hey, would appreciate your take on my article projecting the next superbowl winner-

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/210651-a-formula-to-predict-next-years-superbowl-winner

    Thanks much.

  14. Hi
Please read this tribute as it is about a great man in sports...

    Thank you

  15. The average fans these days don't know the difference between right and wrong apparently. The term "colorful language" is used very loosely nowadays at public sports events, and it's a downright shame. Please read my article which talks about my experiences with these fans, and a reflection on the topic.
