Nick's Bio

I am a 25 year old double graduate (B.S. Economics, J.D. Law) of the University of Florida. I played competitive ice hockey and roller hockey for ten years and have played many other sports (football, basketball, soccer) recreationally. I am passionate about Gator sports and have followed the football team since the early 1990s, as both my parents are Florida graduates. I live with my dog and my girlfriend. I am working for a local law firm in Gainesville, FL and I will be attending all home Florida football games this season.

  2. How is Matt doing? It was funny i was looking around on the profiles here, and you happened to come up. I was wondering if it was you... then saw all the Gator stuff... craziness... I am actually at FAU J-school right now... trying to break into this great profession, hell if that does not work out... I am cheffing it up anyway to pay the bills.... lol.

  4. Hey Nick,
I meant to reply to your comment on "The Rundown on Running Up the Score" but I accidentally posted it as a regular comment. Just thought I'd let you know that I did respond to your feedback. Thanks for reading and commenting on my article!

  5. Nick, thanks for the pick! I appreciate it!

  6. I have thought ECU would make a solid and logical addition to the Big East for awhile now. For some reason most other people don't bring them up in conversations about expansion. I have no idea why because they would be great for the conference. I also don't know the legal bindings that may exist between ECU and Conference USA. Maybe they have to fulfill a certain number of years before the Big East is able to invite them? Do you know how all that works?

  7. Thanks for your comment on my column - I appreciate it! Please feel free to pass it on to other college FB fans...I'm really looking for people to send in highlights, announcer quotes, dumb coaching decisions, and everything else each Saturday as I compile each edition. Thanks again!

  8. Well Nick, it looks like your concerns about the WVU Defense were right on the money. Good call. I guess my mind was clouded due to being a fan.

  9. Thanks for the POTD. Gratefully accepted, dude....

  10. Nick, you missed the entire point of what I was saying.

I said wade played great and I didn't say Kobe had a great olympics.

I said Kobe hit the big shots in the last 8 minutes of the game when the U.S. was in trouble. He took over when they really needed it. If you watched the game you would know that.

In 1982 the U.S. was only up a few points in the 4th before Jordan hits 7 of his next 10 shots. He's called a hero after the game.

Kobe scores 13 of the teams final 27 points with 2 assist and a four point play but somehow Wade who only scored 3 points in that same span is the hero? Explain that one?

You should re read what I wrote. Off course Wade had a better overall Olympics, he was great, no doubt. But Kobe was great in the last 8 minutes of that game and the reason they pulled away in the end.

  11. hey what was the name of that freshamn running who did really good in the spring game? i think he was on tebows team?

  12. Hey thanks for the comment and for reading. I agree with what you said. As much as it pains me to do so, I have the Gators winning the east. They are just too stacked offensivly for me to think otherwise.

  13. Michael, you may be right RE: experience. However, just looking at physical characteristics - Major Wright is built like a SS and Will Hill has the speed and height of an ideal FS.

  14. I read your comments on the Gators injury and they were really strong. The only thing is I think you're over simplifying the Major Wright move to strong safety a bit. He's a savvy defender in the back end and reminds me a lot of Reggie Nelson, another solid free safety. With the gators playing a lot of man-free and some cover-2 having him at the FS spot stops him from being locked on a tight end or slot receiver and gives him a chance to alley fill on run plays.

Will Hill at the SS will be a solid bet, its an easier position to play for a younger player because the rules are clearly defined and he can focus on only doing his job while Wright, being a second year starter will be preoccupied with the CBs, LBs and his safety companion.

I like your stuff man, just thought I'd see what you thought about that. With Hill and Wright playing in that backend expect more blitzing from the linebackers and more turnovers going the gators way. Dorian Munroe was good but I saw Will Hill doing the same thing Wright did last year, proving his dominance about a third of the way into the season.

With that said check this article out about their secondary I'd be interested in getting your opinion. I wrote it pre-Munroe injury.

  15. Nick,

I was wondering if you'd be interested in posting your articles about Gator Football at our website, GatorTailgating.com. We are looking to add a few contributors before football season who can write insightful articles about Gator football. We have set up a pretty nice system where we can use digg, delicious, and reddit to promote your articles on a national basis. t would't be any type of deadline-type jouralism or 2 articles per week minimum like other sites. It would just be a basic agreement that would give us permission to post your articles on our site when they are relevant to Gator Football. Please email me at Rusty@gatortailgating.com if you're interested. Thanks!
