Michael Martinez is a prospect and nothing else. We really don't know what we have in the guy. he's got about 5 major league at bats total and is only hitting .274 this spring. So i don't think you can compare him to a 4 year vet with .283 average who's proven what he can do.

As for his issues. he's barreled over two catchers in a four year span. So what does that mean?

I'll grant you that the Nationals obviously are getting rid of him because they've grown tired of him, but so what? They don't have the veteran locker room, accalimed manager, and merited organization the Phillies have. Add to it they have no history of building talent

We brought in D. Young who was supposed to be a problem child, Pedro Martinez the diva, and still have JC Romero who has a drug suspension. All three have been bigger headaches to teams than Morgan's 8 game suspension

With leaders like Brian Schneider, Jimmy Rollins and a manager like Choll I can't imagine Morgan disrupting the clubhouse or acting up on the field

I think we'll have to agree to disagree on the era thing. I think that ERA can be misleading to a starter but for reliever it is (in my opinion) a fair and valuable way to judge a pitcher. Brad Lidge has about a 4.5 era is that misleading? No it's good for a relief pitcher but 8.5 regardless if your a starter, reliever or little leaguer is putrid no?
