About

Hi, I'm Nick Davies. I've just finished a Philosophy degree at the university of East Anglia, Norwich, and am back in London for the time being. I am a massive football fan (soccer) and I follow Birmingham City FC. I follow the Premiership and the Bundesliga though I like to keep an eye on La Liga. Internationally its England and Germany due to family ties.

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Too many, and largely football based. For the minute I'll stick with Jordan Mutch, Birmingham's midfield maestro and academy product. All time favourites are Marcus Tuguy and Torsten Frings, those who know them will see that they are essentially the same player in looks and abilities.

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Birmingham City Football Club take pride of place, followed by the unlikely combination of England and Germany internationally

  • Favorite Coaches

Chris Hughton pure and simple, he's doing a magnificent job at Birmingham.

  • All-Time Sports Moment

Last minute of the fierce local derby, Birmingham vs Aston Villa, we are behind to a Darius Vassell tap in and a Thomas Hitzelspurger 30 yard piledriver, but a Mikel Forssel strike has given us hope. One 93rd minute goal-scramble later and we are even - cue mayhem.

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

I've attended some great games (and some awful ones) but this is a toss up between the first game of the 2002/2003 season, my first Birmingham game ever, travelling to Highbury with my Dad, or a memorable 3-1 win over the scousers at St. Andrews

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Me and my defensive lieutenant David Martin going 45 games unbeaten at the Hayes School table football table

  • Ruth or Mays?

    who?

  • Unitas or Montana?

    ...

  • Jordan or Russell?

    Jordan, I loved Space-Jam

  • Gretzky or Orr?

    Gretzky

  • Pele or Maradona?

Maradona, he may be mental but even he wouldn't stoop to erectile disfunction adverts!

  • Federer or Sampras?

Federer, effortless ability, though strange wardrobe.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

Until I saw his 'appology' it was Tiger

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

I am once again unsure of these 'sportsmen'

  • Schumacher or Senna?

Having some Teutonic blood myself I'll have to stick with Schumacher

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

I am totally unaware as to what these cryptic acronyms mean

not lucky because of desicions,i had just felt pre tournament germany would find it dificult to make out that group as winners.to me it was the toughest group and the way the aussies didnt show up in the 1st game made germany path to the round of 16 a lil easier.thats what i meant, besides klose`s red card cant compare to cahill`s

you answered your own question on why i considered england+argentina as non tests, because they lacked that tactical awareness+planning suited for the world cup knock out rounds,i say germany wasnt tested.you might say i bias, but germany didnt look so dangerous, atleast in the 1st halfs vs serbia+ghana, teams that employed a 5man midfield....from the 1st game paraguay played in this world cup i was worried about them upseting spain if they met.germany jus didnt show me enough, lucky to come out the group of death in my view, but that big win over the aussies made their progression possible.
