Scott's Bio

I am the program director and sports director for a radio station in Canada and the host of a weekly sports call in show. Most of all I am just a huge sports fanatic. I may not be the one painted in my favorite teams colors, but I will be the one cheering them on whether times are good or bad.

I am married to the MOST wonderful woman in the world! Plus she loves sports! What more can you ask for!

I like to give the benefit of the doubt in every circumstance(where possible) and I will give credit where credit is due. I welcome your thoughts and comments, but make sure they are well thought out with good reasoning. If you are just going to disagree and spout insults, don't expect a response.

I love Hockey and football the most, but I do enjoy watching almost every sport, and have a good understanding of what's going on in the sporting world.

  1. No problem Scott, just glad I can help.

  2. Hey,

I have started up a blog recently entitled Agent Roughrider, that covers the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the CFL in general. If you would be interested in contributing to the blog, just let me know.

  3. Hey,

I just came up with the list of the best current Major Leaguers wearing the numbers One thru Ten. I hope you can take a look and voice your opinion on my list. Thanks in advance,

  4. I'll get to it right now Scott.

  5. Scott,

In preparation for next week's CFL Draft, here is my mock draft:

  6. I agree, the TiCats o-line is definetely needing to be upgraded but it looks like there focusing on there d-line. And good point the Roughriders, Stampeders and Alouettes all build around their o-lines and are successful. The only real exception to this is the Pittsburgh Steelers whose o-line is awful.

  7. When I first got into following the CFL, the first news I saw was on the TiCats and I guess I just became a fan.

  8. Hey Scott thanks for your message. I live about 4 hours from Hamilton and my only source for TiCats info (and CFL info for that matter) is the internet.

  9. Right on. Being a CL just includes getting people in the community involved, connecting them to the resources they need, providing feedback, editing articles, and reporting regularly on the team. It's just a leadership role within the smaller community of the Stamps section. If you are up for it, that'd be great! Just let me know.

  10. Hey Scott, just wondering if you're still around and if you were interested in being a CL in the CFL community, possibly for the Stamps. Let me know what you think, I know that you are more than qualified to be a CL.

  11. Appreciate the clarification Scott, and I'm glad you like the site.

I'll leave you with one final thought: no matter what you write, there will always be people who insult you for no good reason. It's your choice whether or not to let it get to you.

That's just what I've found, in general, during my experience here—that you can't let the naysayers get you down. I'm not saying you have to agree with my philosophy, just telling you how I see it.

Thanks so much for the thoughts.

    Z

  12. Hi Scott,

Thank you so much for your flattering comments. Likewise, I'm sure!

It should be an incredible year...if not, the questions that have shadowed the team recently will really solidify. But it's kind of nice to be underestimated, and I think a lot of people are in for a surprise. The site has been a real eye-opener as to how little exposure/credit Calgary and the Northwest get outside of the division. And it's not for lack of quality...perhaps three Canadian un-original-six teams just don't register on the radar well enough in certain areas.

In a way, it'd be nice to see a return to that scrappy underdog position, though with the level of talent involved it's hard to justify the term "underdog". That said, they play incredible hockey when they have to grind. The fact that everyone seems to forget Robyn Regehr just proves the lack of exposure. It's tough to see that many think the team's "good" players end with Iginla, Kiprusoff, and Phaneuf, and even Kipper is coming under question. Hopefully, that can used to come from behind a bit, though that's tough when playing NW teams...they often over-estimate the other rival, because they know how crazy it can be sometimes!

I find your radio work interesting. I very much want to find a way to "take the next step", get a press pass, hard-copy publications, and, well, work. Any thoughts?

Anyway, thanks again. I've been off-and-on lately in terms of posting because I've had a few family emergencies (Dad's been in hospital, health problems), but since I'm not in school this year I do have the time to write. I have lots of plans for the coming year, and will see you out there often. Take care and talk to you soon.

  13. Hey Scott,

Thanks a ton for the compliment on my articles. :)

I even more so appreciate the suggestion where were to start with the NHL. I've got a few more years of university left so once I get done with that, I can seriously start looking for the work I want to do.

Not sure what clubs will need someone in accounting and/or computer technology, but I hope some day I will find someone who will!
