Scott's Bio
I am the program director and sports director for a radio station in Canada and the host of a weekly sports call in show. Most of all I am just a huge sports fanatic. I may not be the one painted in my favorite teams colors, but I will be the one cheering them on whether times are good or bad.
I am married to the MOST wonderful woman in the world! Plus she loves sports! What more can you ask for!
I like to give the benefit of the doubt in every circumstance(where possible) and I will give credit where credit is due. I welcome your thoughts and comments, but make sure they are well thought out with good reasoning. If you are just going to disagree and spout insults, don't expect a response.
I love Hockey and football the most, but I do enjoy watching almost every sport, and have a good understanding of what's going on in the sporting world.

Hi Scott,
Thank you so much for your flattering comments. Likewise, I'm sure!
It should be an incredible year...if not, the questions that have shadowed the team recently will really solidify. But it's kind of nice to be underestimated, and I think a lot of people are in for a surprise. The site has been a real eye-opener as to how little exposure/credit Calgary and the Northwest get outside of the division. And it's not for lack of quality...perhaps three Canadian un-original-six teams just don't register on the radar well enough in certain areas.
In a way, it'd be nice to see a return to that scrappy underdog position, though with the level of talent involved it's hard to justify the term "underdog". That said, they play incredible hockey when they have to grind. The fact that everyone seems to forget Robyn Regehr just proves the lack of exposure. It's tough to see that many think the team's "good" players end with Iginla, Kiprusoff, and Phaneuf, and even Kipper is coming under question. Hopefully, that can used to come from behind a bit, though that's tough when playing NW teams...they often over-estimate the other rival, because they know how crazy it can be sometimes!
I find your radio work interesting. I very much want to find a way to "take the next step", get a press pass, hard-copy publications, and, well, work. Any thoughts?
Anyway, thanks again. I've been off-and-on lately in terms of posting because I've had a few family emergencies (Dad's been in hospital, health problems), but since I'm not in school this year I do have the time to write. I have lots of plans for the coming year, and will see you out there often. Take care and talk to you soon.

Hey Scott,
Thanks a ton for the compliment on my articles. :)
I even more so appreciate the suggestion where were to start with the NHL. I've got a few more years of university left so once I get done with that, I can seriously start looking for the work I want to do.
Not sure what clubs will need someone in accounting and/or computer technology, but I hope some day I will find someone who will!

Thank you Scott. Your Stamps made it a great game, and we can hardly wait to go next Thursday. I hope you have a nice vacation even if it is only from the BR. I can't say enough, how cool it s to be able to interact with fans of all sorts, if we had a favorite fan you'd be on top of my list.

I must say, I wish your call-in show was nightly, like the Remenda show, but I understand that your station has made sound decisions based on your listening audience. Once again, great job man.

Yea 100.5 the Rock! I actually prefer your show to the Drew Remenda sports show, which we get on News Talk 980 in Regina. First, the bandwidth spot is of a better standard on your station. Secondly, I am really tired of listening to 'Hockey First' sports programming. I know Hockey's a big deal in Sask., but not for everyone! I, however, do love our Flames. Have fun watching Scott, I'll be thinking of you.

Scott, when the circumstances we speak of(the two games in question) are ultimately negative(losses) how can you feel well about that? As a fan of the Riders for 30 years, I have learned to not ignore coincidence and circumstance. Don't forget either what I said either... Henry comes out gunning, but the curse is on and the Riders run the win out down the stretch. I just have a good feeling about that scenario as it's happened to the Green and White in eight or nine recent games going back to 2007. And if they come up short, I'll be here to eat the bird. Fair enough? Don't forget to shamelessly promote this website, hence bringing us all higher readership, on the live air you enjoy. LOL! Great show by the way.

I had an editor do that once, and that's the kind of stuff I try not to do as an editor. It can change the whole meaning of the article!

Of course I remember the Moore situation. It was more on Roy Shivers than Travis from my recollection. But spin it however you like. I can understand your position being first and foremost a Stamps fan. To me it was yet another example of how a different regime of ownership and management in Calgary treats people who make large contributions to the success the city and fans have enjoyed. That said, I'm not saying it doesn't happen here and other places from time to time as well. In Sask., as you know, the management has to answer to our board of directors and when stuff like that happens it's not long after that management gets it walking papers. Entertaining contest last night huh?

Make sure it's tagged with the CFL tag. That's all I can think of. I'll take a look at it Scott.

I apologize for my tone, but I was slightly offended. I accept and thank you for the apology. I wasn't offended so much at your opinions, but at the tone. I can tell you know the passion Rider fans have for our boys. Having lived in Cowtown for over two years recently, I can relate to what Stamps fans are all about.
I must admit as well that from the beginning I have been envious of your career status. I am sorry, I'll try to get a life now that we have this mutual respect. Friends indeed.
I cannot, however, respect the Stampeders organization on or off the field right now, with respect to how they handled their operations on the human resources side of things in 2007. And one individual namely Henry Burris.
You may see him as 'Smilin' Hank, with the cannon arm and all the tools, while I see him as a selfish baby, who despite skill will never lead anyone anywhere significant. I don't want this statement to come off as a dig at you personally. Walk a mile in my shoes though. In my opinion, and with years of watching HB in Regina, I am convicted in this belief. And I can assure you it's not an illusion.
So why do the cat-calls of Heeeeennnnrrryyyy, bug you so much? Perhaps you don't quite understand the concept of the 13th man. It requires evidence, and close to 30,000 people agree when Henry comes to Regina, he gets rattled by all the chants.
Gabe Morency of The Score, openly speaks about trying to rattle Luca Congi in the Grey Cup game to assist his wagers. It's a part of the game and it happens to us as much as we employ it. My point here is, it works and it's fun. You should try it sometime with Marcus and see if he's mentally weak like Henry appears to be.
Despite my status quo, 13th man, actions(screaming at HB) at Mosaic, I can assure you I am not one of the "fair weather fans" you refer to, who when times are good they are gung-ho but when the chips are down they are leaping of the wagon. I have had season tickets and an unwavering passion for this team since my first game in 1979 at 2 years old.
I left Saskatchewan to pursue a college diploma in Alberta and remained a Rider season ticket holder throughout. I have attended more than 30 away games over the years, mostly in McMahon, and I will be a 25 year season ticket holder in 2009. I have had my concerns with the team in that time but have never ever once considered that I was not a true green Rider fan.
Back to football. Nik Lewis is having a solid year thus far. To me, he is still the same old self-centred, loud Nik Lewis who cried on the sidelines after being benched in his home park against the Riders in 2005. Once again, great player, but a poor attitude.
Working within the rotation last year proved one thing to me. He likes Calgary and didn't want to go elsewhere and that he likes to have some jingle in his jeans. If he refused, he'd have been shopped around. So his options were, stay and sit or go and who knows? I will go out on a limb and say, since E.T. seems committed to remaining GM for years to come, Nik Lewis will never be a Rider like the great Travis Moore once was.
I honestly don't think there is a single receiver on any clubs 46 man roster who doesn't go out there, make his blocks, play on special teams if thats the case, or sacrifice his body for his team. I wouldn't stand for it that's for sure, and I'm pretty sure 'Huf' wouldn't either. You have to be kidding that you think he'd give the shirt off his back if he didn't have to. He's in it for one person, Nik Lewis.
I just don't see the similarities like you do. Sorry. Go ahead and get the last word, I promise no retort buddy. Talk to you soon, saaaaayyyy.... Sunday, August 3rd? LOL!
