The fact that the author and many of the commentators refer to MLS as "The MLS" show that they don't really know what they're talking about....

As a citizen of the world, I consider the world's sport, football, to be one of the most important aspects of my life. Despite constantly moving around, one constant in my life has always been football. I have played, written about, and experienced a unique brand of football culture in many different countries. My favorite club football teams are: Manchester United, Sevilla FC, AS Roma, and Club Atletico Independiente. It has been difficult for me during international football tournaments because I don't feel as though I have ever had a home country to root for. Yes I am a citizen of both Finland and the United States, but neither of those countries have ever possessed successful or attractive football teams (the exception for me being the 1994 US World Cup squad). I would consider myself a supporter of both Argentina and England, as controversial as that may sound, due to having lived in Argentina and loving their players, and because I am a fan of English football. I admit that I am extremely biased and set in my views, but I feel that I am a fair football fan, and can appreciate great players, teams, coaches, goals, etc (even if they are German). I am currently pursuing a master's degree in sports journalism at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
