Alan's Bio

My name is Alan McGuinness and I'm the Chelsea Community Co-Leader alongside Salomon Gonzales.

I'm 18 and a die-hard Chelsea fan and season ticket holder (West Stand Lower) from London.

I'm currently studying Journalism at the University of Kent, and loving student life.

My ambition is to become a Journalist and writing on this site combines two of my passions: football and writing. I discovered this site via an advertisement on Facebook and I'm glad I took the time to sign up.

I mainly write articles about Chelsea, but also occasionally on other Premier League teams. With qualifcation for the 2010 World Cup under way, I'll also be writing some articles on the Republic of Ireland and their quest to reach South Africa.

At the moment I'm finding my time to write articles cut short by University commitments, but I'll try to contribute when I can.

My first Chelsea game was on 28th October 1998 against Aston Villa, a game which Chelsea won 4-1 and John Terry made his first team debut. My favourite Chelsea memory is seeing the club win the Premiership in 2005, something which I never thought I'd see the club do.

I also write articles for The Shed End, a Chelsea fan site, and news and reviews for Britxbox.co.uk, an Xbox 360 fan site.

I look forward to reading other articles on here and getting feedback on my own work.

Im doing a Chelsea Round Table soon and I'd appreciate it if you took part in it.

The topic is going to be...

" Which Of The Youngsters Should Chelsea Integrate To The First Team And How".

The three youngsters I want to be focussing on are Franco Di Santo, Scott Sinclair and Michael Mancienne.

You could choose one of the three, two of the three or simply all three but I want your reasons and ideas on why and how we should make them first teamers. In a paragraph of 10-12 lines, write down your thoughts on this issue.

If you decide to take part then, you need to write to me before this Friday..

Send your entry to this email... phatballer_85@hotmail.com

  13. Thanks Alan. I agree, it should be a fantastic match. Sometimes when the big teams play there's a lot of hype and the match itself doesn't live up to that, but I don't expect that to be the case on Sunday. Enjoy the match!

  15. Hey Alan,

Ahead of the Chelsea vs Man Utd match, I want to bring out yet another edition of Rivals' Views.. I would love it if you could answer these questions:

    1. It has been a good start for "Big Phil" and Chelsea - big expectations?

    2. What do you make of Manchester United? They've had a difficult start to the season. Can they recover even if they lose to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge?

    3. Cristiano Ronaldo comes back for Man Utd - any cause for concerns for Chelsea on that front?

    4. John Terry's 3 match ban was overturned - do you think that his presence and Vidic's absence should make it easier for Chelsea to win this one?

    5. What is your prediction for the game?

Please send the answers to my e-mail account by tomorrow morning (latest).

    Cheers,
    Shyam.
