Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Federer, Kapil Dev, Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, Linford Christie,Usain Bolt,Kobe Bryant, Nadal,Edwin Moses, Lance Armstrong,Michael Johnson. This list is by no means complete. Suffice to say, no one dominates.

  • Favorite Sports Teams

Kapil's Devils of 1985, Gavaskar's 85 Team. I'd have to go with cricket. But Leander's Davis Cup exploits make the Indian team another to follow even though they might not have won as much.

  • Favorite Coaches

Phil Jackson, Alex Ferguson. I'd go with these two because of their longevity and consistency. Another coach of note is Mumbai's Cedric D'souza. He mapped out Mumbai's triumph at the National Hockey championships. A thinking coach but petty politics put paid to his national coaching aspirations.

  • All Time Sports Moment

India's '83 World Cup victory. The cricket World Cup win even though I slept through the final moments. I remember Lloyd still at the crease only to wake up to an Indian win.

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele. He's a class act. Maradona was a magician on the field; not one, off it.

  • Federer or Sampras?

Federer. He's the greatest. He did win the French Open. Sampras didn't.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

    Tiger.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

    Schumacher
