About

I am a recent graduate of Vassar College, with a major in Media Studies. I'm aspiring to work in sports media, so contributing to and interning for Bleacher Report has been a tremendous experience.

As much as I love to write, I am always trying to hone my skills at the craft. That being said, I hope a lot of you take the time to read what I have to say, enjoy it, and leave me feedback!

Short List

  • Favorite Athletes

Robinson Cano, Derek Jeter, Steve Nash, Kobe Bryant, Mariano Rivera

  • Favorite Sports Teams

New York Yankees, New York Jets, Brookyln Nets

  • Favorite Coaches

Joe Torre, Joe Girardi, Bobby Cox, Tony LaRussa, Phil Jackson

  • All-Time Sports Moment

"There's a fly ball deep to left...it's on its way...there it goes...and the Yankees are going to the World Series! Aaron Boone has hit a home run!" --Charlie Steiner

  • Most Memorable Game Attended

Not a whole lot to take from, but I'd say the last 2006 Yankee game at home. It ended up being Bernie Williams' last game at Yankee Stadium, and the fans, afraid of that, chanted for him to come back for another year. Too bad we didn't get our wish.

  • Most Unbreakable Sports Record

Most people are saying 300 wins is impossible now...so Cy Young's record of 511? But, for more modern-day records,I would say the ones involving championships. Nowadays, there are more teams and more parity. Are we going to see another player with 10 World Series rings, like Yogi Berra? Or 11 NBA titles, like Bill Russell? I doubt it.

  • Ruth or Mays?

    Ruth.

  • Unitas or Montana?

    Unitas.

  • Jordan or Russell?

    Jordan.

  • Gretzky or Orr?

Gretzky. I did a book report on "The Great One" in second grade; how can I not give it to him?

  • Pele or Maradona?

Pele, but only because Maradona kind of scares me whenever he's in the news.

  • Federer or Sampras?

    Federer, but Sampras is close.

  • Tiger or Nicklaus?

As a golfer? Tiger. As a person? Nicklaus.

  • Petty or Earnhardt?

Earnhardt. I was maybe 10 or 11 when he died; that was probably the first time I saw someone die in a sporting event. It hit me pretty hard.

  • Schumacher or Senna?

Schumacher. To be brutally honest, I really don't care--but Schumacher's name is cooler. (I usually employ stronger standards than that.)

  • ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12 or SEC?

Can't they all just get along?

    Dear Corey,
I know this is a longer than long shot, but we run a US Open Series Prediction Challenge at drawchallenge.webs.com . For each of the 6 mens tournaments, you fill out a bracket by emailing them to drawchallenge@yahoo.com . We keep track of all standings and results on the website. We add up points from all of the tournaments combined to come up with a US Open Series Prediction Champion. Last year we did it and it was a lot of fun. Just to let you know, this is what a typical entry email would look like.

I know you are extremely busy, but it would be very cool if you would play. I'm sure it wouldn't take too long to send over your picks. Anyways, I'm sure your extremely busy, so thanks anyway for reading this. Matt (drawchallenge@yahoo.com)
