Yes, you are likely correct. For some reason I have always had somewhat of a mental short with that word. I have also used it inappropriately in place of masquerade when this mental block reared its ugly head.
Where did I use it this time?

Kevin: In the article "Chizik must find recipe for success...." The line, as posted, reads "... The offensive play-calling was so conservative as to borderline on the bazaar." Old college profs tend to see things like that. I guess it comes from a lifetime of grading student papers.

Kevin: I think the word you are looking for is bizarre. Bizarre = weird, strange, peculiar.
Bazaar = market or marketplace, carries connotation of the middle eastern souk.
