Harry Douglas Speaks About Brother, Football, Role With Atlanta Falcons
03/18/2009
a casual writer obsessed with sports. heard that one before, right? i'm different...
i'm currently co-community leader for the atlanta falcons on bleacher report and the atlanta falcons examiner for examiner.com. you can view my examiner work at:

once the 2008 NFL season ended, obligations to my family and my role with Examiner.com expanded and i am no longer able to be as active with B/R as i once was. B/R provided me a publisher to begin to write again, an activity that has provided me with untold hours of joy and some new career opportunities. being voted B/R's '08 NFL Writer of the Year by my peers and readers was a true thrill.
enjoy B/R for what it can provide. learn the lessons it can teach. spend as much time reading as you do writing. and make a few friends while you're here. guys like angel, sean, bryn, and eric q are people i will hopefully know forever and are some of B/R's finest.
If you get a minute. Thanks

Every year there is a week that turns the season upside down, usually it's around the first week of November. Just came early this year. You didn't really think all these teams are going to stay undefeated? You know what 2 teams have the best shot at going 12-0? Boise State and Tulsa. And they can't get in the title game due to the computer schedule rank.
Hang in ther Daniel.

Nothing like a little friendly trash-talking.
Daniel, no offense to you, either, but I don't expect the Falcons to be as good against the Panthers as they have been so far. Your two wins have come against the Chiefs and Lions, two teams consistently ranked in the high-twenties in many power rankings and just simply not very good. Your loss has come against a far better team that is much closer to the Panthers' skill level, the Buccaneers. As I recall, the Bucs beat you guys 24-7. That score could be wrong, all I know is that the Bucs beat your Falcons pretty soundly. I don't think that this game will be an all-out blowout, but I don't think your guys will hang with us very well.
We beat the Chargers - and we deserved to beat them, no matter what anyone says. We also beat the Bears. I know everyone thinks their defense broke down - and it did - but if their offense hadn't been too one-dimensional, they would have been able to outscore us.
In the Vikings game we didn't play as poorly as it looked - The Vikings just played insanely well. Few teams would have a legit shot at a win against the Vikings the way they were playing.
Anyway, good luck on Sunday.

Congrats on hitting the B/R front page! I have spread it around some, and hope you get some picks out of it. I am also checking in with some Georgia blogs to have it posted or linked. I will keep you posted.

Not a problem, man. I'm always down to talk shop on some football. Never any emotions on my behalf, so feel free to call me on anything.

Hey Daniel,
Thanks for the message. I definitely see where you're coming from in supporting the Falcons. Perhaps calling the entire team's performance uninspired was unfair. But if we're being honest, after the offensive fireworks in Week One, you have to agree expectations were high. Like you said, as Ryan went, the team went. He's still inexperienced, but the team needs to support their rookie leader, too.
