For the moment, my memory is failing me. I don't recall if Manu Ginobili had earned an All-Star appearance in that season. But Manu played such transcendent basketball through those 2005 playoffs. I actually believed he should have gotten that MVP.

Now Ginobili might not seem like a mega star, but most people forget that not only did he carry the fans of the Spurs, but he also had the aspirations of an entire Argentinian country, similar to what Yao experiences.

In 2007, Tony Parker also emerged as a star, garnering him Finals MVP against the Cavs
