Hey there!

I'm Jon and I'm 19. I'm a massive Manchester United fan and follower of the game in general. I'm currently at University in the wonderful city of Sheffield in England where I am studying (in the broadest sense of the term) French, German and Catalan. Modern Languages alongside football are my passion in life. Although I have no idea where my degree will take me, all I know is I'm enjoying life, and writing here on B/R is a pleasure.

I saw this website advertised on Facebook and since that fateful moment a couple of months ago I've contributed regularly to the World Football community on B/R, whether through articles of my own, or commenting on others' work.

I've written a series of articles outlining the great rivalries in world football today and also some pieces on English and European football. I mainly concentrate on Manchester United though.

I have supported Manchester United since I can consciously remember- somewhere in the region of 1993-94 when I was four. My dad's passion for the game and the club have been forced (willingly, I might add!) upon me.

It is hard to some up my passion for my club in words. They have given me some of the best nights of my life (Moscow 2008, regaining the Premier League in 2007) but also some of my lowest times (being knocked out at the group stages of the Champions League by Benfica 2005, FA Cup Final defeats to Everton 1995, and Arsenal 2005)

Football can change my mood in an instant, for better or for worse. But the game we all love can bring people together like nothing else.

I hope you enjoy my work. Let me know what you think of it, anyway. I always want to improve in verything I do, so any pointers or advice will always be welcomed and greatly appreciated!

Finally, just a word of thanks to everybody in this World Football community here on B/R... it would be nothing without the hard work of so many people so give yourselves a big pat on the back!

Glad to hear it! Actually I'm still trying to find out how the four digit number is worked out - but I think it is a numerical representation of the average of the position given by the contributors i.e. most people ranked Dallas at 1, but a couple ranked them 2 or 3 - so they end up with a number just under a perfect 1.0. But, as you can probably tell, I'm just guessing.

Anyway, I'll send out an email in the next day or two, and it will basically ask for a list of your Top 25 teams in Europe. I will sort out the averages - hopefully Shaun will get back to me on that.

Hey Jon,

Inspired by the NFL section, I'm thinking of starting a World Football 'Power Rankings" - where some of the best brains from our humble section rank the 20 best teams in Europe.

Basically, I was hoping you would be keen to lend your weight to the project. It shouldn't be too much work - maybe half an hour to compose your list the first week and 5 mins or so each time in future as you re-jig it a bit.

If you could just drop a note on my bulletin board to say whether you are interested in participating or not (and include your email if you are - I will delete it once I have it), I would really appreciate it. If you could do that by Friday that would be great, then I can get on with the next stage in the process.

Hey Jon,

Just wanted to tell you that there is no need to get disheartened by an individual's comment on a particular piece. I don't know why people bother personalizing things like this - it's their nature, and you just have to deal with it by ignoring them.

Don't try to defend yourself, it just makes such guys go on and on. When you write an article, think that you're right - even when you might not be, and ask yourself "will the person criticizing such a piece be able to write one him/herself?" Invariably, the answer will be, NO.

It was a great article, you don't need to apologize to anybody about anything.

No worries, Jon! When you write / edit an article, highlight the word in the text you want to link from, and then click the icon that looks like a chain on the format bar. Then all you need to do is copy and paste in the web address link you want to use.

Not the best explanation, but hopefully you can still understand it!

I know , not only is he saying Ole isnt a legend hje is saying Steven Gerrard and Robbie Fowler are Legends above Ole , which is frankly the most ridiculous comment ever made .

Gerrard and Fowler are very good players but they are a lifetime away from being Legends yet .

Thanks for the reply. I didn't mean to step on your toes, you're welcome to change it back if you'd like. The only reason I changed it was because the headline doesn't do anything to bring the reader in, as it should, since it's unclear what the article is about. Also, with no "keywords" (such as names or clubs) it's unlikely that your article would appear in a search.

If you're going for a series, I would suggest something along the lines of: "It's Going to Be a Big Year for: [that article's subject]"

Again, you're free to leave it however you want. Either way, nice article, and keep up the good work!
