Chip's Bio

In 1995, I was given an opportunity to be a volunteer recruiting assistant for Ohio State University. I had the opportunity to scout high school talent throughout the state of Ohio for then-Ohio State recruiting coordinator Bill Conley, and Coach Conley was gracious enough to serve as a reference for me when an internship within the scouting department of the Washington Redskins became available in 1996.

I have since left the world of professional scouting behind, but I learned a great deal about college and professional scouting, and I am hoping to share my thoughts and opinions here as an Ohio State Community Leader for The Bleacher Report.

My work has been cited on ESPN.com (07/23/2008), and primarily comes from my blog entitled From The Mind Of Minnich. Go Bucks!

  1. Hey in honor of my 100th piece here on B/R, here's my continuation of my weekly series on five things we learned in college football http://bleacherreport.com/articles/275354-whos-number-1-really-five-things-we-learned-in-week-seven?just_published=1.

This includes a bonus segment at the end of the article. Enjoy.

  2. While I usually don't promote articles, I saw fit to promote this one. I feel people are not paying attention to what this article is about. They probably should. No matter if you are a fan of Florida or LSU, this is something you need to remember going into tomorrow night.

  3. The Michigan/Notre Dame game has the feel once again of a typical rivalry game. Both teams look good last week, but see what the Irish NEED to do in order to be successful for a second Saturday in a row. Don't be shy, even you Wolverines!

  4. Hey, I don't know if you've gotten a chance but I have a slideshow that I think is worth a look. It's my ranking of the top rivalries in college football. Hope you enjoy.

It includes a very deep insight into OSU-UM, which I think will be a great thing for Buckeye fans to check out.

  5. Hey Chip,

Decided to give my take on what the top 25 rankings should be as the college football season heads to week two. Would appreciate any feedback given!

  6. Looks good to go now... must just be minor time lapse.

  7. Hey Chip-
    Another good one.
    Quick suggestion if I could...
One of THE most important secrets to success on B/R is title strategy. When you use great key words, syndicators like GNews will drive a lot more traffic to your article.
For instance, your most recent will garner a better read total if you rename it "Jim Tressel, Ohio State Prepared for Navy's Triple Option"... or "How the Ohio State Buckeyes Will Sink Navy's Triple Option"... etc.
Don't want to change it without your permission, nor do our editors, but I highly suggest you go back in and make a quick edit that will pay dividends.
    Best,
    Trey

  8. Hey guys, if you would please read this article on the comparison between Vince Young and Tim Tebow.

This is actually the most important piece to me that I have written, so I kindly ask that you give your feedback on the situation, and help with the promotion of the article.

    Thanks as always guys,
