Mitxo has yet to fill out a bio.
Sorry if you really dislike Real Sociedad.
Ps: I just spent about 4 months in Donostia, so I guess I should say "escaricasco" instead of thanks ;)
Sorry for the late response :) it's been a very long couple of months with a lot of changes on a personal level, hence the lack of articles. But they'll start coming again soon, and I'll definitely have something on Llorente. Thanks for the compliments!
Hi Mitxo! You're very welcome. I try to reply as soon as I can, but I'm pretty busy lately. I miss talking football with all you fans!
I hope you're right because Bilbao could use another anchor at the back. Physically, he has no obvious weakness. But it's his intelligence that has impressed me most. I think he will end up being more of a Puyol leader type than Pique.
I honestly won't be writing any time soon, unfortunately. I simply don't have time. I'd like to post a piece that looks at which Spanish clubs new fans could start to follow, but I may not even have that done this month. I'll shoot you a message when I get that out, though.
Hi Mitxo! How's it going?
Laporte is definitely carrying his fine form over this season and already looks to have grown. He was one of my main breakout players to watch this year. It's still VERY early, though. I want to see him play against some more speed and a wider distributor in midfield. He obviously has the talent, but I still want to see how smart he reacts to tougher challenges. I hope he excels.
What do you expect from him this year?
I'm pretty sure Garay is already a regular starter for Argentina, but not Otamendi. I agree that they would complement each other nicely. Could potentially be one of the best center-back partnerships in international football.
If you were to ask me this very question a year ago I would have answered "Garay" without hesitation, but Otamendi had an outstanding season last year, so it's difficult to say who is better at the moment.
Garay's positional sense is world-class, he's strong in the air, and very composed in possession. Otamendi is much more of a tough-tackling, athletic center-back who, until last season, was prone to mental lapses.
Otamendi has a little more to his game - more complete defender - but I'd still pick Garay solely due to his class and football IQ. Nevertheless, both are superb center-backs with very distinct playing styles.
