Burton's Bio

To contact me regarding my writing, please email me at b-s-d-9-8-7-@-g-m-a-i-l-.-c-o-m.

Hi y'all. I'm a 20-year old college student at Rice University. I have been actively writing about sports for five years with a focus in college football, tennis, golf, horse racing, and folkstyle wrestling. I am currently working on a freelance piece about the 1969 Texas Longhorns football team. Furthermore, I am researching the University of Texas football team since 1957 and its effect on perceptions of race within the state.

Retired Australian tennis player Wayne Arthurs is my hero. His matches have helped me pull through some of my lower moments.

College sports are greater than professional sports, but you already knew that.

I have had one article published on CBSSports.com, which was written on request of the CBSSports.com editing staff.

I run a horse racing blog, FinalHalfAFurlong.blogspot.com. The name is inspired by Arlington Park track announcer John Dooley, who used to say "they come inside the final half a furlong!" He no longer appears to use the phrase as the horses pass the sixteenth pole.

Again, please direct all inquiries to b-s-d-9-8-7-@-g-m-a-i-l-.-c-o-m without the "-." I have included these to avoid automated spammers from picking up my address.

  4. I love how you say FormulaBraun :-)

  5. "Furthermore, I am researching the University of Texas football team since 1957 and its effect on perceptions of race within the state." ~ Is there lots in there? A story to tell or a large focus area, would be interesting.

You should meet Julian Johnson, the grandson of Arthur Ashe/Althea Gibson's coach Dr. Thompson. He is on BR and he has a major focus area in that specific topic of racial discrimination in the USPTA.

    Cheers,
    Sarah

    Sarah
