Opening Day is Here and it Makes Me Sad
April 5, 2010
I've lived in Florida practically all my life (one of the few natives born and raised). My father took me to my first Major League Baseball game on April 5, 1993. Opening Day. I was just a kid back then, but I became an instant fan. I remember exactly where I was when, late in the 11th inning, Edgar Renteria hit a line drive that got by the Indians' defense and into center field, winning the 1997 World Series. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life.
