Would you be averse to an MLS expansion article with 20 cities instead of just 10?
Could you be a little more specific on what events would necessitate an MLS expansion/move targets rewrite? I know Beckham & South Florida is a biggie, but I'm less sold on franchises moving, particularly the Revs and D.C. United. The commish has said that a Chivas (USA or Guad) move ain't happening. I'm also bearish on San Diego (never gonna cough up a dime of public money), Las Vegas (sports betting) and Phoenix (110-degree weather) as sites.
As for how to fix Chivas, I know what needs to happen. They got on the right track with Bocanegra. But what they need to do is ramp up spending on publicity. At present, they're spending virtually nothing; and they're so poorly covered their B/R page has articles from two years ago. Their scouting and development is pitiful and needs a lot of work. They also need to grow supporter groups: the Timbers probably have more members of supporter groups than Chivas has average attendance. Maybe they need to build a new stadium, or else play someplace that isn't the South Bay or West LA (Central LA, East LA or the blue-collar parts of the Inland Empire all would probably be better targets). I just can't think of a way to compel it to the action.
