Alex, Sure we want to see "a few points" but a good, close, BALANCED game is a much better game than an offensive explosion/ no defense game (unless it's your team that's exploding offensively). I am tired of sportswriters and commentators touting offense constantly and declaring a close defensive battle a "boring" game. It's a team game. Offense and DEFENSE. Thank you..

I'd thought the Buckeyes & the Bearcats were scheduled to play (see Michael Whitfield's comment below). Columbus evidently needs to protect that ol' Oberlin College for their ANNUAL use, eh ? Ha !?! didn't Notre Dame do something similar, back in the Roethlisberger days to Miami-OH ? hence, the FRIGHTENED Irish moniker I've laid on 'em.

hey Alex...guess you can see, off to the right, that I've once again "overloaded" on comments. hope they do what they're supposed to: encourage some dialogue, participation, & general feedback. I'll probably get "gonged" (happens, eh?) by some folks - oh well. those of US who do enjoy sports & college football (esp.) can handle the criticism...constructive or otherwise. if I'm GUILTY of 'hogging the comment area', I'll agree somewhat to that - does make it a little tough to negotiate through. anyway (once again)...GOOD JOB !!!

I had not heard of UCincinnati being mentioned for the Big 12 (-2) but knew that Univ of Louisville name was tossed around for future membership. It would definitely improve the BB in the Big 12. The Bearcats need to stay in the Big East. Best chance of winning and getting a major bowl. It is interesting that OSU - Columbus dropped the Univ Cincinnati from the schedule at least temporarily when the Bearcats got good in FB. I wonder if B Kelly wishes he would've stayed in Cincy

I am a fan of your UC Bearcats too. Don't see the practicality of Boise State & SD State joining the Big East for next season (2013). However, it will make for some exciting road trips I guess.

Not to be telling what your business should be Alex, but there's a particularly nasty troll all over the comments for your 'Best Coach for every team' article. His name is George Kaplan and his type is the worst type. He's simply looking to aggravate someone with every comment he makes. I don't mind a good discussion or a heated debate, but he's simply out to pick fights with irrelevant and hateful comments. I recommend you check his comments out. Thanks for the great article by the way.

    Alex,

I thought I would give you a little information about what TCU's Riff Ram is in case you didn't see my post. Depending on who you ask it is either the oldest school pep cheer in the nation or one of the oldest, and has some of the most, umm, unique words of any of them anywhere. It was designed to be something every generation could remember easily and also makes specific references to some TCU incidents lost to history (asking "who" for instance MIGHT be a reference to a winning streak over Baylor, as in "Who was that team we always beat?", and the reference to "Zoo" several times MIGHT refer to the FW Zoo, which opened in 1909 and did not have any Horned Frogs among their animals. The facts will probably never be known for sure, but it is an ancient cheer that was passed on to each graduating class for many years. Riff Ram is also making a comeback lately.

Here are the words to Riff Ram Bah Zoo (its official name (-: )

    Riff, Ram, Bah Zoo
    Lickety, Lickety, Zoo, Zoo
    Who, Wah, Wah, Who ?
    Give "em Hell, TCU.

And here is a link that provides a little bit of insight into Riff Ram. I will post a more thorough link later. I will try to find a TCU link that tells the whole story of how it was originally written.

As far as cool goes, Riff Ram is pretty cool!

Hey Alex, just read your ranking of CFB Stadiums. Pretty cool. I've been to many incl PSU, ND, UM. LSU, WVU, etc. Agree that the NFL stadia are poor venues for CFB. The ones you ranked too low might be Colorado, TCU, and UConn. UConn has great tailgating and read what RGIII said about it:
Q-" When you were at Baylor, what was the toughest place for you to play in terms of crowd noise?"
Robert Griffin III: "The thing that people think is when you go to these big stadiums and they have 80,000 people or 100,000 people, that these are the toughest stadiums to play at, but really, those aren't. When you have that many people, most of the time, the fans are pretty far away from the field. The toughest places to play are the ones that are jam-packed, are really tight to the field, and sit about 45,000 people. When we played at UConn my freshman year, that was the loudest place I've ever been as a football player. The stands are right next to the field, it was packed, and everyone was yelling. That was probably the coolest place for me to play at aside from Texas, Texas A&M, and Nebraska."

Great read Alex. I never even realized until I saw it all laid out in your slideshow that all of this CFB drama has been in a one-year span. All of these stories have flown faster than time. Crazy! Great article man.

You are the most retarded writer on here! You think texas tech will lose to Baylor and Kansas?!?! You live in cincinatti, what do you know about texas football except what they show on tv(and all they talk about on tv is how great texas is)!! You are a complete moron who should not be alowwed to write about sports. Texas Tech is not one of the worst teams and Texas is not on the rise. OU will win the conference championship handily and will contend for the national title. You are an ignorant Ohio State grad who thinks that only teams from the north are good.
