About

Sara was born and raised in Alaska, and lived there until she was 23. She already knows what you're thinking: They don't even have any pro teams! This may be correct, but it would be wrong to assume that she is not harboring alliances to any particular organization, as Sara is a loyal fan of the Red Sox and Arsenal.

She is a 2003 graduate of the Univ. of Alaska Fairbanks (B.A. History) where the Division I Nanooks rule the ice every Saturday night. (This may be another given: Alaskan = hockey fan? Her very unscientific research on the topic suggests this is a correct assumption.) After college, Sara spent 2 years in D.C. before heading west to Seattle, where she sadly watched the Seahawks fail to win the Superbowl in 2006.

Other activities she enjoys are looking for typos in books (they DO exist!), traveling, mountain biking, and shouting at the TV. Sara does not particular enjoy the Seattle winter, but summer afternoons at Safeco more than make up for a coupla months of drizzle. :-)

I am surprised by the number of people who actually want to reserve the right to bad-mouth their teams! I offer constructive criticism, of course, but one in particular wants to be able to say, "they suck," if they do.

I don't get it. Will YOU take the pledge?

Hi Sara, I love your picture. I am living in the heart of corn country (more or less) and really love sweetcorn as do our horses. One year they got loose and wiped out our garden either stomping on or eating everything, including our popcorn! What pesky critters.

Alaska's mascot is the Nanook? I'm proud to say that I have seen the film Nanook of the North, which though oddly amusing in the 21st century, was evidently quite the masterpiece by 1920's standards. He was quite the resilient eskimo!

    Thanks for this valuable factoid.
