Fix Your Tennis was created (September 09, 2009) to accompany the tennis absolutes, principles, concepts, strategies, and progressions that my tennis students were learning in lessons and drills. Over the years, I have taught many students a simple system of over-correction for rapid tennis skills improvement.
I began playing tennis at 19 years of age (1971). My love of playing and teaching tennis has remained strong for over 40 years.
I trained at Harry Hopman's Tennis Academy (Florida) in 1985. Sadly, that was the last year of Hop's life.
After diligently studying the USPTA handbook, working on my own tennis game, and helping other people to improve their skills, I decided to become a USPTA certified tennis teaching professional. Alan Hodges was my USPTA sponsor.
I enrolled in a Tennis Teacher's Academy and studied under USPTA Master Professional Bill Tym, and George Basco.
The one-week academy included classroom and on-court instruction each day for five and one-half hours.
The examination to gain USPTA certification included a written portion, being grading while teaching a private and a group tennis lesson, and performing various strokes to show proficiency.
Note: Bill Tym and George Basco have been inducted into the USPTA Hall of Fame, since that time.
I up-graded my education after a 22 year long career at a local refinery, in the Finishing Plants:
California State University of Bakersfield, California (CSUB)
Bachelor of Arts degree (Cum Laude) in Child, Adolescence and Family Studies, with a minor in Psychology (2005)
