About Austin »

Well, where do I begin? In the third grade... No. I'm not going there.

A freshly-minted 2008 graduate of the University of Vermont, I was formerly a senior staff writer, sports editor, managing editor, sports columnist and editor-in-chief of UVM's 125-year old student newspaper, The Vermont Cynic. I edit and write for a sports blog I founded in Fall 2007, The Looper (thelooper.wordpress.com). I'm currently in limbo career-wise, at least until I land the job writing sports for a newspaper or magazine or Web site that gets me on my way.

I'm a golfer, a caddie (hence, The Looper), and sports enthusiast, with some caveats (I hate the NBA, though I manage to recall nearly any name or pointless tidbit from the pre-1998 NBA). Writing about sports seemed the natural progression, and, here we are.
