About

Lou is a struggling wordsmith who loves to have fun when writing about sports. His work has appeared in several newspapers and websites since 1992. Lou loves college football, but is also keen on the NBA and NFL. Lou hails from Southern California, but his weary bones reside elsewhere.

Lou has worked in the sports media field in several capacities, including media relations director, statistician, editor and columnist. He presently covers BYU football for Bleacher Report, but also contributes to other teams and sports when the inspiration comes.

Lou doesn't like to beat a dead horse when it comes to sports writing, so if you're looking for something fresh and fun, come back for more on Bleacher Report.

Good points, Ralph. It's difficult narrowing it down to 10, but I went with Tait because of his Pro Bowl appearances. Yes, Gravelle and Holmoe have Super Bowl rings, but neither excelled at their positions in the same fashion as those on the list. I'll add them to the Honorable Mention, though. Thanks for writing.

One big miss on the BYU to NFL list is Gordon Gravelle. Gravelle was a starting offensive tackle for the Steelers and won two Super Bowl rings. His skill level and career in the NFL were at least the equivalent of John Tait's and he played for much better teams. And don't forget our own AD Tom Holmoe who has 3 SB rings on his desk from his 49er career.
