Andre has yet to fill out a bio.
No way jejej, It's too expensive, even if I had my old job I would could only get like 15 days of vacation so I couldn't stay the entire the WC. So now I don't have a job so I have the time but there is no way I could afford it with out losing the money for my graduate studies.
Thanks again, Andre. Incredibly informative.
I'm trying to pounce on the next ticket allocations for Brazil '14. If I can't go, then I'll look to Rio '16.
I'd just like to hear your thoughts on the Vasco da Gama and Atletico violence. I think it was just a pure disgrace. Helicopters, military, the likes were involved.
Also, I find it extremely ironic on how Fluminensce were the defending champions...and got relegated.
Also, how do you feel about the protests in Brazil? I really feel for the people. I'm not too familiar with Brazilian politics, but would you say Dilma Rousseff is corrupt? In the news, it would seem so. But I'd like to here both sides of the story. It's a huge shame FIFA won't lose a penny in construction, yet they gain all the profits.
What do you think?
Thanks for the response, Andre.
I have a few Brazilian friends and family members who have told me that Portugal will likely get plenty of support from the Brazilian neutrals, especially those with Portuguese ancestry and those with close ties to Portugal.
With regards to the group, I think it is actually quite difficult. Germany is a top contender and the US and Ghana are certainly no pushovers. Nevertheless, I think Portugal will ultimately make it out of their group to face Belgium in the round of 16. That game is pretty much 50-50 in my opinion, but I feel Portuguese experience in big tournaments will prove vital against the hugely talented, yet inexperienced Belgian side.
I think the quarter-finals would therefore be a realistic aim for Portugal. We are capable of beating anyone on our day, and with a certain Cristiano Ronaldo, anything is possible, but I honestly don't see us going any farther than the semi finals.
Do you think the Brazilian neutrals at Portugal games will support their Portuguese primos. Given the close historic, cultural, and genetic ties between the two countries, I would hope the Portuguese would attract some support from the local population lol!
Appreciate the info, man.
And will do!
I love how the Brasileirao is unpredictable.
Also a few more questions:
-What do you think of the congested fixture list in Brazil (national league, state championship, cups, Libertadores for some)? I saw the match where the players just stood there for a minute.
-I think Tite isn't going to continue as Corinthians coach. I heard Mano Menezes was already hired. What do you think?
-And what does the term "gringo" mean? I am not familiar
Thanks for the insight and feedback mate!
Hey, Andre. I know you are the Brazilian football expert on this site.
What do you think about Cruzeiro's incredible title win? Fabio has been the best goalkeeper in the league, IMO. Also, Dede has been fantastic, as well.
I recall that time you told me that Dede was in poor form after his injury. It's a good thing that he has recovered his form.
Also, the signings were pretty good: Dagoberto, Everton Ribeiro, Dede, Willian, Julio Baptista.
I've tried to catch up with Brazilian football more often, unfortunately dodgy websites and the occasional match on beIN is all I've got at the moment, in terms of the Campeonato.
Yeah, what happened? Sao paulo started well and then Nacional started to control the game. Sao paulo should have done better especially since Nacional's payroll is 1/5 of what Sao Paulo is worth. Also Medellin will be tough since Osorio will rotate and have everyone at 100%,
