Matt's Bio

I'm the Carolina Panthers and NFC South Community Leader. So if you have questions, want an opinion, need help with editing an article about the Panthers, don't hesitate to post a note on my bulletin board or shoot me an email at abfan@carolina.rr.com.

I'm a high school student, and I'm a sophomore this year. My favorite teams at the moment (these change with the sports that are going on) are the Carolina Panthers and Carolina Hurricanes.

I'm currently writing on my school's newspaper staff.

I will begin writing on a website that's devoted to fantasy football called Ruleroto.com soon in addition to Bleacher Report...or so I thought. The founder of the site asked me to contribute. I replied back telling him I was up for it. Haven't heard back from him.

I'm having a lot of fun competing in the 2008 NFL Season Writing Contest.

My favorite sports to watch are football and hockey. Favorite to write about is football, as you could probably tell from all my NFL articles. Favorite to play, I guess, is basketball. I used to be really good but then I just didn't play at all one summer and most of my skills went down the drain. I still have a nice jumper, though.

I'm obsessed with football right now. It's all I've written about for at least a month. I'm enjoying the NFL season more than I ever have before can't wait for the NFL regular season. I've been an NFL fan for awhile, but I've also tried watching college football. But it just doesn't appeal to me. I tried watching the Georgia-Alabama game last weekend and only made it through Bama's first touchdown before I got bored.

Note that, regarding my articles written count, I have actually written six fewer articles than it says. I accidentally published duplicates of six articles because I got too impatient and hit the publish button twice when the site took too long to publish the article after the first button click.
If I repeated anything in this bio, sorry. The one thing I don't edit on here is my bio.
I hate arrogant, trash-talking bandwagon fans with no sense of logic or common sense with a passion.

  1. Sorry to bug you dude, but I did one more.

Thanks for all your praise on the last one, and be brutal so I know you're not lying to me.

Thanks again for all you help.

  2. Hey Matt,

I wrote another fantasy piece, I'd love your thoughts.

  3. matt,

if you want a look inside the falcons win:

    thanks.

  4. Matt,

thanks for the info. it really helped. by the way, the hurricanes opener is at home vs. the Florida Panthers.

  5. This one is dear to me!

  6. hey matt,
I just became your fan. Living in Raleigh, I'm a hurricanes and Panthers fan, too.

I have a question. How do you get a writer category, like columnist or something? I've been a member less than a month and only written 11 articles but I'd kind of like a goal to work towards. I mostly write about NFL, and I have weekly regulars like NFL power rankings, weekly NFL picks, and NCAA football top 25.

  7. Thanks for the pick!

  8. I think CBS Sportsline had something to do with it.
At least that part is explainable.

Look in the related articles section. It's been the "Bleacher Report" for two days now...
I guess that's better than being on the front page by a lil bit.

Again, I'm sure your edits helped with the CBS selection.

    Thanks again.

  9. You dude. Pretty funny that "not my best article" ended up with 50,000 hits.

Thanks for your edits and your comments, I'm sure the helped with the Sportsline selection.

    Have a good weekend.

  10. I picked Atlanta over the Panthers mostly as a goof; I figured I had picked them to win the week before so maybe I should change it up; if it works, go with it. Maybe I'll keep picking all our opponents throughout the season lol.

Anyway, I find college football to be pretty exciting towards the end of the games. I watched Middle Tennessee State come back from a seven point deficit and come back with a real sweet drive. 6 seconds left in regulation, MTSU was at Florida Atlantic's 30; MTSU QB drops back, puts sweet finesse on his pass, and the receiver outreached the defenders to fall down in the endzone with the ball, and TD. Game tied at 13, MTSU attempts the extra point with no time left in regulation and wins it 14 to 13. THAT is exciting football!

I lived and grew up in North Carolina, and I was always a fan of Clemson and LSU.

I moved to NJ, and I'm not only a fan of, but I'm also applying to Penn State. I do still like and follow Clemson and LSU.

  11. Re: NFL Week 4 Picks; Lol, I haven't tallied my record for week four, but from what I've glanced over, it's not gonna be pretty... I regrettted picking the Falcons over the Panthers, but in a sick, sadistic way it resulted in a Panthers win. Maybe I should pick against them for a while, and see what happens, lol. I will start work on my week five picks tomorrow night, and I'll have my tally from this past week and a season total so far. I should have that posted either Friday evening or late Saturday.

  12. I see you're starting to watch college football! I am too! Any particular team/s that you like so far?

  13. No problem, you're welcome. I really enjoyed the article. Please don't be hesitant to edit my future articles. I appreciate any and all input you or anyone is willing to offer me!

  14. Dually noted. No harm, no foul. I wasn't really thinking of past articles I had written, but future articles, lol. In either case no problem, and I appreciate your edits. I'm not offended, I am mostly just explaining the nature of my "humor" article.

  15. Hey Matt, in the article, "My Town, My Team, My Carolina Panthers," I wrote that article as myself. I wasn't really trying to be gramatically correct, I was just being myself as if you came to my house and we were BS'ing. Again, I appreciae your edits, but this article is listed under humor, and this is just a story from my heart about who I am, and explaining my feeling for why I'm a Panthers fan. I wasn't really typing this article while expecting it to be edited. This was meant as a story from your everyday fan. Again, I appreciate your attention to my articles, but this one was totally meant as an everyday person to an everyday person's perspective. :)
