Will's Bio

I'm 27, born and raised in Knoxville, and currently serving as pastor to a small community of churches in southwest Virginia while attending Asbury Theological Seminary part-time outside Lexington, KY. I'm a lifelong fan of the University of Tennessee, the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Celtics, and the Tennessee Titans since their move to Nashville. From June 2006-December 2008, I was the founder and co-author at SouthEastern Sports Blog, where were privileged to establish a place among the leading Tennessee sports blogs and had a piece linked to on ESPN.com. I've moved/upgraded over to RockyTopTalk.com where I continue to ramble on about the Vols...outside of the sports world I also write for wreckedfortheordinary.com.

  1. I am surprised by the number of people who actually want to reserve the right to bad-mouth their teams! I offer constructive criticism, of course, but one in particular wants to be able to say, "they suck," if they do.

I don't get it. Will YOU take the pledge?

  2. ok now i'm hearing ogeron to tenn.

    gossip is fun.

  3. also, hope this isn't a sore subject for tenn fans but it seems orgeron is headed to baton rouge as well. many outlets are reporting this now.

    les is building an army.

after chavis, i'm very happy if this is true. the debate for many weeks was chavis or coach O and it looks like LSU got 'em both. most fans are thrilled with the two moves.

i'm very interested to see kiffin, monte that is, bring his scheme to college. he's one of the best.

  4. I think Skip Holtz might actually be posting on your article ... or maybe it's Lou. ;-)

I think Skip gets the ECU vote for coach of the year, but I can't imagine him getting too many votes other than that. You were correct in leaving him off of the list ... at least in my non-expert opinion. Great read as always. BTW, I'll bet I'll now get to sit through a bunch of Butch Davis to Auburn rumors ... ;-)

  5. I realized the BCS is better than a play-off, and decided it needed to be defended. I'd love your input.

I'd appreciate it if you had the chance.

  6. awesome stuff man, i really enjoyed it and i know LSU fans will. i linked your profile and your blog as well as your latest on kiffin. hope you enjoy.

  7. everything going ok with the questions?

if you have any questions for me or want to tweak something, post on my profile or reply to my email. thanks!

  8. Just noticed in your profile that you are a pastor. That's very cool. I am a Worship and Music Pastor in Tennessee. Also a Pastor's kid.

    Great writing too!

    Go Big Orange!

  9. cool thanks, i have a meeting to go to but i'll probably email you this afternoon. just tackle it at your own pace.

i was also considering asking michael shibley to participate. i didn't know whether to do a roundtable or try to do two separate interviews. i ahven't asked him yet. let me know what you think.

  10. great piece on kiffin, i really enjoyed your perspective.

i have a question/proposal for you. people around my neck of the woods are buzzing about a new defensive coordinator and as you may know one of those names most likely in the running is john chavis.

i was originally just going to ask you your take on him as a fan but i was thinking i could turn it into an article if you were willing to participate. kinda the LSU expert interviews the tenn expert about chavis (your thoughts on him, his strengths-weaknesses, etc.) and also i was going to quickly touch on tenn's new coach and the transistion going on there.

this would basically be like a radio interview on paper (or computer if you will). i can email you the questions and you can expound as much as you want to. and if for any reason you don't like chavis, don't hold back, tha main thing that LSU fans want are an honest view of what they might be getting into.

so far on the pulse here i would say about 70% of chavis' reviews are positive.
i would be looking fwd to hearing your take.

lemme know if you're interested and gimme your email (and of course i would plug anything you wanted to i.e. your blog in the interview)

thanks, and if you're not interested can you maybe give me the name of someone in the tenn community that would be up for it. like i said, i'll try to make it low impact.

  11. Hey man, I'm looking for bloggers/writers for a big SEC website that I run. If you're interested, let me know.
