Any Room For Stand Up Rules Fights In The UFC
February 11, 2010
I am a writer(fiction) did martial arts when I was younger (not in shape now) Tae Kwon Do, Ketsu ka, a little BJJ. Competed in Tae Kwon Do and Karate points fights. Did some boxing, kickboxing(oriental rules) on amatuer level. MMA fan since UFC #1 . I like the Japanese promotions Pride, Dream, K1Dynamite , UFC, WEC,IFL. I love circus(freakshow) fights. Love MMA history like watching the sport as it develops. I appreciate good tough fights, I don't care about fighters records, You win some you lose some.. I like to see skills displayed. UFC is great but they need a better broadcast, better commentators. I'm not dropping 50$ for the ppv because money is tight these days. Catch a lot of fights on HD NET. They show vintage K1, DREAM, a lot of smaller shows love watching MMA on TV I catch everthing I can and I check out a lot of fights on You Tube. My favorite fighters other than the obvious legends, are Cheik Kongo, Rumble Johnson, Big Country, Spyda Silva, Bones Jones, Semmy Schilt(K1), Drago(K1) Demian Maia is BJJ master. I like circus fighters like Hong Man Choi, Bob Sapp, Jan Norte, just because I do can't even justify it. I like the absurd aspects of MMA as much as the legitimate competition aspect. I hate trash talkers and love to see them get SHUT UP.
I share your love of circus fights. I thought I was the only B/R writer who had an idea who Jan Nortje was.
Yo Matt - if you like weird, here's one :
