greg's Bio

Im am a 22 year old college writer, who will sooon be studying at UC Berkeley. I am a true fan to the Oakland Raiders, whom i follow with a passion. The Sacramento Kings, although im not happy with their play as of late. And a follower of baseball in general. Seemingly the Oakland Athletics. I was a high school football official for the past three years, and seem to have a great feel for the game at any level.

  1. Thanks for the comment on my article. Much appreciated.

  2. You need to remember a couple of things:

    1) It was still January when I started the Mock draft. If I started today, I'd probably make some of the picks a little different. It's also making the late rounds extremely hard because of guys who have shot up/down the draft board over the last month.

    2) I was only half serious with the Raiders pick...thought I made that pretty clear.

    3) Jackson was the #1 receiver on the board back then...might not be now, but was then. It's one of the downfalls to a two month long, 31-part series.

I agree, my draft board's a little messed up right now...it's making these last few parts much harder than they would have been if I had just bitten the bullet and written the entire thing in a weekend.

    Thanks,
    Sean

  3. Forgetting the fact that a Raider fan wouldn't know a good draft pick if it was holding out into late September, is there a specific pick you take issue with?

The Titans couldn't take Sweed in my mock because he was already gone...the best WR on the board at that point was Manningham, who isn't worth a first round pick.

Are you implying that Seattle doesn't need offensive line help?

Hey, feel free to write your own. You have as much chance of being right as anyone else...it's all a guessing game.

  4. Greg I read your articles and I want to thank you for representing the Silver and Black. I also want you to keep up the good work. I hope you noticed in the 1st game against the broncos that the defense gave up 128 yards rushing to Travis Henry. The Raiders played well enough to win and should've but the timeout call when Jon Condo lifted his head to make snap was a killer. Giving up rushing yardage is slow death and that needs to stop hopefully this is the year. I also want to see William Joseph & Terdell Sands turn their careers around. I guess we won't agree on this but if you run a 4-3 defense you need 4 defensive ends. Keep watching and following Oaklnad. Go Raiders!

  5. Thanks for the add, from one Raider fan to another I love it. We don't see two different teams Greg I've been watching the Raiders for several years in person and on TV. I have every game placed on DVD so in the off-season I can watch games like the coaches do. We've going otthe same destination but taking two entirely different paths to reach it. I want to start out by mastering the basics, play solid defense and stop the run then come after the QB on offense I want to run the ball and pass the ball when I need to. If you can run the ball and stop the run you're in the majority of games you play. I've watched the Raiders give up 100+ rushing yards to everyone in the league and especially the AFC West for far too long. Making stopping the run a priority in training camp and throughout the season that added to solid defense and moving the ball on offense the Raiders will win the AFC west it's that simple. Hey look you're caught up in the excitement of Darren McFadden I get it but do you realize that the move would give the Raiders 5 RB's? I like the kid but don't you think that would be a little overkill? Once the D.Hall deal is completed the Raiders have 4 draft picks. 1st round, 4th round, 2 7th round picks. If the Raiders make a lot of people happy while pissing off others and draft Darren McFadden then the Raiders have 3 picks toward the end of the draft to add depth and fill needs what team are you looking at now?

  7. Greg -

Been enjoying your Raiders columns, you seem to have a good grip on where the team is headed. Looking forward to your reaction if Russel ends up playing tomorrow. Keep it up,
