Hello Fellow Sports Fans.
I am a 22 year old avid sports fan, currently living in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, also known as Cow-town. When the weather is hot you can always find me outside having good times with my closest friends. Whether it s camping, fishing, drinking or partying, (you have not partied till you have spent 10 days in July at the Calgary Stampede) I am always enjoying the outdoors. My winter months are spent enjoying the season all bundled up outside enjoying the snow, or inside watching movies and hockey games. It doesn t matter what season it is I am always Up-To-Date on my favorite sports. I am completely obsessed with hockey. I'm always out watching the Calgary Hitmen, as well I attend a number of Calgary Flames games. Some other teams I enjoy are the Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins. When I am not in the Pengrowth Saddledome watching the games, I am watching any sport I can find on the television. Other sports I enjoy are Football (NFL & CFL), Lacrosse (NLL), UFC, World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA), Professional Bull Riding (PBR), Rodeos. Other hobbies I have pertaining to sports, are playing football with friends as well as adding to my jersey collection. I currently own several different NHL jerseys, including a Vintage Oilers Wayne Gretzky and a signed Calgary Flames Craig Conroy Jersey. However, my biggest dream is to become a sports broadcaster and just maybe work somewhere within the NHL. I am hoping that writing for Bleacher Report, is a step in a long journey towards my dreams.
Hey J—Max Tcheyan here, a Bleacher Report Community Coordinator.
I've been spending time on our Flames page and read a couple of your old articles. Really on-point analysis...you do good work.
Given that you haven't written in a while, I thought I'd check in and see if you're interested in picking up your coverage again. What do you say?
If not, it would be great if you could give me some feedback on why you decided to stop writing and what we could have done to better serve you. If you wouldn't mind, please shoot me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org with any thoughts.
Thanks so much,
Hi there J. Getting ready for 2008-09's NHL season? Allow me to introduce myself. My name is M MacDonald Hall, and I am the Bleacher Report Calgary Flames Community Leader.
Here's a quick Flames update:
Flames Preseason Game #1: FLA (3) @ CAL(2).
After a scoreless first period, the Panthers took a one goal lead early in the second when LW David Booth scored. Calgary would respond with an impressively offensive 25 minutes of play, going ahead 2-1 on goals from Dustin Boyd and Jarome Iginla.
At 10:14 of the 3rd, Florida tied it up on an Rostislav Olesz, and Jay Bowmeester locked the win with a marker five minutes before the buzzer. The Flames showed bursts of offensive and defensive flair, but the plays which reslted in goals were slipshod, such as scrambles for pucks behind their net. Despite this, Curtis McElhinney looked solidly positioned most of the night. Both sides allowed penalties, but only Calgary was able to convert with the man advantage.
Molson 3 Stars:
* 1st-CAL #41 Dustin Boyd (1G-1A)
** 2nd-FLA #4 Jay Bowmeester (1G, GW)
*** 3rd-CAL #45 Jaimie Lundmark (1A)
Shots: CAL - 26, FLA - 25
Newcomers John Negrin and Mikael Backlund looked relatively comfortable. Started off slow and sloppy, but evolved into a fairly intense "meaningless" game.
Last year's opener was a 3-0 loss to Florida...at least there's some improvement!
Feel free to contact M if you have any questions or comments for the Flames page. Also, check the Flames page and M's archive regularly for more Calgary Flames and NHL Northwest updates. Take care and enjoy the season.
I just wanted to let you know that Bleacher Report has launched out of beta with an updated look and feel and some great new features. Check out the "Game On" link in the header to find out more.
Next week we'll be launching the site to the world with some public announcements—and it'd be great to get a contribution from you between now and Tuesday to make Bleacher Report's launch a success.
Let me know if you need any help with ideas or have questions. Have a great weekend J!
I don't know about the All-Star game, people were really concerned with injuries yesterday and do you really want to concentrate all of your stars into one venue where it's possible to lose more than one of them? On the other hand the All-Star games would not carry near the intensity that yesterday's game would. Annually might be interesting to see too, you just need to find a venue that stays cold enough (which when you have a certain amount of teams from areas that are foreign to snow, that could be difficult).
