I became sports conscious in the mid 70's and grew to love George Allen's "over the hill" gang in DC. Flirted with being a Steeler fan for a while during their run in the mid to late 70's, but Joe Gibbs brought me back into the Redskin fold for good. Just never have gotten over the Skins (though they've caused me to waver lately). I also discovered North Carolina basketball and football around this time listening with my dad on Saturday afternoons to legendary broadcaster Woody Durham and it continues to be the sports passion that I hold the dearest. Those are my weaknesses and loyalties and sometimes it's hard to tell the difference.
I enjoy watching sports, but find myself less and less impressed with the overall state of it as time goes by. Two reasons... rampant greed and general ugliness, about neck and neck. 99.9% of all management/ownership decisions in sports are made with money as the deciding factor and I'd like to see some consideration given to the fans, to tradition, and, don’t laugh… to honesty. Even two out of three ain't bad, but I've learned not to hold my breath on that last one.
Thanks for joining B/R and the Rutgers Football Community. I look forward to reading your contributions and hope you'll encourage others to join too. Let me know how I can help.
