Danny 's Bio

Danny "Gonzo" Burnham is a freelance writer from Rome, Georgia. He has been a high school football , wrestling, and track coach for the last four years and uses that perspective to tell a different kind of story about a game, or when writing feature about an athlete or coach.

His bylines have appeared in such newspapers as the Tampa Tribune, the New Orleans Times-Picayune, the Daytona Beach News-Journal, and the Ft. Myers News-Press, and on the website MMAWeekly.com as well as MMAMadness.com. He has also written for his home town paper, the Rome News-Tribune, where he contributed to PrepCentralOnline.com, which was recently ranked the #2 online news source in the country in the 2009 Inland Press Association's New Frontier Awards. He is currently writes for Oursportscentral.com.

In 2007, he assisted the World Indoor Football League's P.R. department as a writer for league and team websites, and as a color anylist on game webcasts.

Among his favorite events as a writer, Danny lists the 2007 World Indoor Bowl, the 2008 NAIA National Championship football game, and his interview with MMA legend Ken Shamrock.

Sports is his primary area, but occaisionally he ventures outside of the sports world to write about politics, or current events.

His goal is to write "3-D" stories and he uses Bleacher Report to sharpen his skills as a writer.
