Philadelphia Phillies: Getting Roy Halladay Is a No-Brainer
07/24/2009
I'm a 26 year old from pa; music, baseball, and work are my life. I've been a huge fan of the game of baseball since I was a wee lad in the mid to late 80's. I didn't really start to get into the game until I began to understand it better in the early 90's and now I can virtually call a game the same as any announcer. Some of my favorite players from my childhood were Roger Clemens, Don Mattingly, Dennis Eckersley, Rickey Henderson, Mark McGwire, George Brett, Mike Schmidt, Dave Stewart, Harold Baines, Ryan Sandburg, Mark Grace, David Cone, Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Dale Murphy, Joe Girardi(back from the Cubs all the way to the Yanks!), Greg Maddox, Mike Mussina, and I could go on and on and on. I enjoy watching and critiquing the Yankees because I really like the makeup of their ballclub; I especially like the diversity on the team and think it to be a special group because of that as well as their professional approach to the game. I've been a Yankees fan ever since 1995 and thoroughly enjoyed watching them win four world series out of five seasons between 96-00. Payroll totals do not concern me, I find nothing wrong with spending the money a team needs to get the players they want. I do find it wrong that people hate on the Yankees because of this but not Boston, whom usually have a payroll similar to the Yanks.
I'm from the Philly area, so I'm also a Phillies fan for life. I'm an expert on that team as well. I was in the 6th grade listening on the radio, when I was supposed to be asleep in bed, as I heard Joe Carter of the Blue Jays hit that homer of Mitch Williams to beat the Philles in Game 6 of the 1993 World Series. Thank God we finally won something this year!!!!
Watching sports, particularly baseball, and formulating my own opinions on what's to come has always been a favorite pastime of mine. Now that I've found bleacher report I hope to impress some people not only with my writing but with my ideas as well. I'm a music major in college, and if things don't work out with it after I graduate, sports writing would be an awesome possible alternative career. Please, I encourage all to comment on my stuff, one cannot improve without constructive criticism.
hey you're one of my fans on this site. i've written some new stuff. check it out.

Thanks, Will. I think we're both good game recappers! I'm just doing it to gain some experience and keep writing until the fall. They made me the sports editor at the newspaper at my school, so I'm just doing it to keep up. Feel free to do whatever games you want, don't let me stop you! :)
