Hey Owen, I'm really sorry for taking so long to respond to your comment on my Bulletin Board. I honestly don't check it that often because I don't need to pass through in order to publish an article.
It would be a huge win if Burke can dump even one of those big salaries without taking a bad contract in return. Dumping all four in the next 12 months would take a miracle, but he needs to do his best to get rid of some of them ASAP to free up roster space for the kids.
I wasn't advocating going forward with that particular line-up. I just wanted to show how much better the roster could be if we simply replaced the bad contracts with young players.
Obviously a lot more work would need to be done, like add a #1 goalie, a #1 centre, a veteran or two, and so on.

A team that can't play a full season doesn't deserve the chance to stay intact. This is a critical year for Burke and for the team. How we move the four you suggest without taking back some salary I don't get. Franson on the bottom pairing is a waste, better off flipping him for a good physical prospect and getting Holzer battle ready for an NHL career. And leaving the goaltending intact is a recipe for another early exit, as well as Burke's dismissal. This blueprint is a great way to end up with the 9th overall pick next year and a new GM, thats about it.
